LOOkING FOR A ROOMMATE?<br />

Find a Roommate is an <strong>on</strong>line service to<br />

assist you in finding a roommate to share<br />

your home away from home in a residence<br />

hall at <strong>Texas</strong> A&M University. Find a Roommate<br />

allows you to add general informati<strong>on</strong> about<br />

yourself to a database <strong>of</strong> similar informati<strong>on</strong><br />

submitted by other Aggies who either will be living<br />

in a residence hall or are currently living in a<br />

residence hall, and are also looking for a roommate.<br />

If you choose to participate, after you enter<br />

your informati<strong>on</strong>, you may search the database<br />

for individuals with compatible interests. The<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> submitted by Aggies choosing to use<br />

the database will include c<strong>on</strong>tact informati<strong>on</strong> to<br />

facilitate further follow-up/c<strong>on</strong>versati<strong>on</strong> with an<br />

individual you may find interesting as a potential<br />

roommate.<br />

How does it work?<br />

A pers<strong>on</strong> who has applied for housing may<br />

log <strong>on</strong> to Housing Online Services at<br />

http://reslife.tamu.edu/how and select Find<br />

HOUSING OPTIONS<br />

View virtual tours and<br />

photos <strong>of</strong> each <strong>of</strong> the styles<br />

<strong>of</strong> residence halls at<br />

General Informati<strong>on</strong><br />

a Roommate. You can choose to answer some<br />

questi<strong>on</strong>s such as study habits, sleeping habits,<br />

socializing habits, smoking habits, etc. The<br />

program will take the resp<strong>on</strong>ses to the questi<strong>on</strong>s<br />

al<strong>on</strong>g with name, major, classificati<strong>on</strong>, hall<br />

preferences, teleph<strong>on</strong>e and email address to form<br />

a record, which can then be used and posted <strong>on</strong><br />

the site. You have the opti<strong>on</strong> to choose which<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> from your record is displayed to other<br />

users <strong>of</strong> the program. Any student who applied<br />

for housing or is currently in the housing system<br />

may review all the postings and choose if there<br />

is any<strong>on</strong>e he/she wishes to c<strong>on</strong>tact that matches<br />

the preferences he/she is looking for. If you select<br />

a roommate, go <strong>on</strong>line to update your housing<br />

record by putting in your roommate informati<strong>on</strong><br />

<strong>on</strong> your housing applicati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

You may remove yourself at any time from the<br />

database by signing <strong>on</strong> to Find a Roommate and<br />

then selecting the opti<strong>on</strong> to delete your informati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

All informati<strong>on</strong> in the Find a Roommate<br />

database will be deleted August 31, 2012.<br />

Luther King Jr. Day<br />

Classes begin Tuesday, January 14<br />

Halls close Saturday, May 11, at no<strong>on</strong><br />

Students must leave within<br />

24 hours after the last final or<br />

ask for an extensi<strong>on</strong> through their<br />

residence hall staff.<br />
