Seamless partnership
FUCHS receives high accolade –
the “Daimler Supplier Award 2009“
For two reasons, the Daimler AG must
rely on seamless procurement of lubricants
for their automobile production.
On the one hand, delivered lubricants
must meet the specific requirements
for powertrain assemblies with regard
to optimum power transmission, cooling,
vibration damping and sealing.
On the other hand, lubricant supply
must be reliable and flexible for both
initial filling as well as for servicing.
According to the premium automobile
manufacturer, FUCHS has been meeting
exactly these demands for almost
20 years now. “FUCHS is a highly flexible,
extremely reliable partner which
actively contributes to our strategic
initiatives with new ideas“, says Jan
Meyer-Sande, Manager Purchase,
Facility Management & Energy – for
instance, in terms of fuel economy an
important research objective contributing
to the CO 2 optimization of the
Daimler fleet fuel consumption.
This excellent cooperation was honored
by the “Daimler Supplier Awards
2009“ in the category “International
Procurement Services“ on 18 March at
the Mercedes-Benz-Niederlassung in
Stuttgart. FUCHS PETROLUB was the
only lubricant manufacturer awarded
in this category.
With the “Daimler Supplier Award“,
the automobile manufacturer recognizes
the outstanding performance of
suppliers which are determined based
on a worldwide uniform evaluation
system. The basics for this evaluation
are defined in the supplier cooperation
model “Daimler Supplier Network“
and comprise quality, costs,
delivery reliability as well as technology
and innovation. The model
launched under the guiding principle
“Commitment to Excellence“ last year
is based on the idea of a performanceoriented
partnership and rewards fairness,
dependability and credibility.
On the occasion of the second “Daimler
Key Supplier Meeting”, Dr. Dieter
Zetsche, C.E.O. of the Group, and the
entire Executive Board, welcomed
about 600 external and internal guests.
Dr. Zetsche thanked the suppliers for
their contributions to jointly managing
the past year which was probably
the most challenging year for the
automotive industry in the last 50
years.
On behalf of the entire FUCHS workforce,
Stefan Fuchs and Dr. Lutz
Lindemann, Member of the Executive
Board, received the award. The fol-
Top performer on the stock
market
The FUCHS share has been one of the real
winners over the last decade on the stock
market. In an appraisal carried out on be -
half of the Hamburg-Hanover stock ex -
changes, it came in fifth place. From De -
cember 1999 to December 2009, its value
increased by over 1,000 per cent. Only So -
lar world, the jeweler chain Bijou Brigitte,
the sports goods manufacturer Puma and
the fertilizer and salt producer K+S performed
better. The appraisal only looked
at the performance of the share price. The
absolute stock market value did not play
any role here, and the dividend payments
were not taken into account either.
In the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region,
this performance makes the FUCHS share
the clear number one. The Frankenthalbased
pump manufacturer KSB made it
into 10 th place. Following in positions 18
and 23 were two more Mannheim companies:
the construction and service company
Bilfinger Berger and the energy supplier
MVV Energie. The pharmaceutical company
Merck from Darmstadt and BASF from
Ludwigshafen also ended up in the top 50.
The “Daimler Supplier Award 2009“ acknowledges
the innovation power, delivery reliability, flexibility
and good on-site support of FUCHS.
lowing day, Stefan Fuchs passed the
honor on to the staff: “Yesterday
evening, I was very proud of you, our
entire team and our company. Thanks
to your valuable day-to-day input you
support our successful partnership
with Daimler. This supplier award is
the reward for your work. We should
take this award as an encouragement
to improve even more in the future!”
