3.2. Transportation costs<br />

An integral part of <strong>the</strong> costs of <strong>access</strong> <strong>to</strong> health care <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> target population of this study is comprised<br />

by <strong>the</strong> costs of transportation <strong>to</strong> <strong>and</strong> from various locations in <strong>the</strong> interior. Given <strong>the</strong> distances, <strong>the</strong>se<br />

costs can be substantial, <strong>and</strong> oftentimes a reason <strong>for</strong> persons not <strong>to</strong> seek help in <strong>the</strong> city. Inserted is a<br />

map of <strong>the</strong> Medical Mission <strong>and</strong> a r<strong>and</strong>om selection of some of <strong>the</strong> 30 <strong>the</strong> locations where <strong>the</strong>y are<br />

present.<br />
