July 13, 2011 - 6:30 p.m. – Four Points Sheraton Hotel - Ventura SBR Board of Directors Meeting The dinner board meeting was held at the Four Points Sheraton in Ventura. Present were: Bill Sampson, Dave Stone, Nick Liakas, Don Kuckenbaker, Jim Brown, John Alfenito, Steve Kaller, Michael Brovsky, Linda Rubino, Joan & Chet Yabitsu, Karen & Mike Turek, Doreen Pankow, Ted Lighthizer, James Oldham, Carolyn Ewbank, Dan Byers, Martin Keller, and Nadine Tracy. Secretary: The June minutes were approved as submitted. Vice President: Michael talked with Ben Schroeder of Santa Barbara Auto Group, who has agreed to be our sponsor for our “Rebel Without A Cause” run. Our club is committed to working closely with the sponsors of our events to make sure they feel part of the process and have a more personal connection to the club. Treasurer: Steve presented his Profit and Loss YTD Comparison, Balance Sheet, and a new report Profit and Loss Previous Year Comparison. Discussion followed. Membership: During the month of June, nine new members joined our region. Membership stood at 715 at month’s end. Activities: Upcoming events include: August 6-7th Porsches to Pinos 2 & Fun Drive to Ojai, August 13th Rusnak Westlake Porsche SBR Appreciation Day, September 17th Camarillo Autocross, and September 25th “Rebel Without A Cause” Run. Editor: The August edition contains lots of event coverage, as well as new flyers for our Concours d’Elegance at CSUCI in October, and a pre-concours detail clinic to be held in September. A full-page flier for the “Rebel Without A Cause” run to Cholame is new, and will run in the August issue. Other events being publicized in August include Rusnak SBR Appreciation Day, the Camarillo Autocross, the Rally School, and the El Camino Real XXVIII Rally in November. Also, a “teaser campaign” will run for our “bonus” Camarillo Autocross to benefit Habitat for Humanity in October. Distribution: 900 copies of the July Der Auspuff were printed by Sir Speedy. 752 copies were mailed from the Oxnard post office for a postage cost of $321.17. Thank you Mike Pomerantz for labeling 28 and mailing the July newsletter. There is a $953.03 postage credit at the Thousand Oaks post office. The bulk mail permit of $185 was renewed on March 16, 2011 and is good for one year. Discussion followed. Advertising: Don presented his report on ad revenues billed and collected. Discussion followed. Goodie Store: June Santa Barbara breakfast sales were $227.00 for a profit of $59.52. July Camarillo breakfast sales were $295.00 for a profit of $97.83. July Santa Barbara breakfast sales were $45.00 for a profit of $21.00. July Ventura Motor Sports gathering sales were $196.50 for a profit of $46.68. Grand total sales were $763.69. Grand total profits were $225.03. The Goodie Store has a fair amount of inventory to cover the autocross and concours. A motion was made and passed to reimburse Linda & Brian Rubino for purchases they made for Goodie Store merchandise in the amount of $288.78. Insurance: Jim reported that all certificates have been filed through September. Rally: Thank you Joe Schneider and Joe Boucher for once again chairing our El Camino Real Rally. Concours: Carolyn reported that her committee is in the process of obtaining the contract for the Founders Courtyard at CSUCI venue for the 2011 SBR Concours d’Elegance. A motion was made and passed to accept the pricing structure for registration fees as set out by the Concours Committee.The concoursflyer iscompleted and will appear in the August newsletter. A motion was made and passed to hold a raffle at the concours with proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity. Thank you Karen Turek for heading the Raffle Committee. Autocross: Dan reported that the July 31st autocross is on schedule and he expects a full event. Thank you Santa Barbara Auto Group for sponsoring. Volunteers have been lined up, and the final preparation of driver packets will take place the four days before the event. Archives: No report. Webmaster: The website is up to date. Safety: A motion was made and passed to appoint Mike Turek as the new Safety August 2011 • Santa Barbara Region • Porsche Club of America • www.pcasb.org Chair replacing Mike Furnish, who has retired. P.M.S.: Karen told the board that the group’s next event will feature a gimmick rally with electric boats and will be held on September 10th. R.U.F.: The June 16th tour to Avila Beach was attended by 18 members. A tour of Montecito is scheduled for July 19th. Past President: No report. President: Bill reported that the Gimmick Rally went smoothly and thanked everyone who assisted with and attended the event. Linda & Brian Rubino, along with Oscar Esquivel and Christine Taylor, manned our Goodie Store booth at the Ventura Motor Sports gathering. Dave Stone brought many Der Auspuffs, and he, along with other members present, discussed the club’s virtues with prospective members. Bill discussed the ongoing sound system problem at the Camarillo breakfast with Des Warren. Members please help out by ceasing conversations during our brief program there. Old Business: We did receive the PCA “Hospitality Park” subsidy of $220 for our Ventura Motor Sports presence. Future plans for Der Auspuff distribution were discussed. New Business: Bill publicly thanked out-going Safety Chair Mike Furnish for his efforts on behalf of the club. The board discussed charity designated events and fund raising ideas. A motion was made and passed for Dan Byers to purchase an EZ Up tent for the club. The Nominating Committee reported the need for a policy regarding ballot distribution, collection, andtallying. Amotionwasmadeandpassed to create a 50th Anniversary Planning Committee and such committee members will be non-voting board members until the date of the 50th anniversary. Thank you Lavaggio for offering to host our October 12th dinner board meeting. Thank you Santa Barbara Auto Group for hosting our August 10th dinner board meeting.
