We have chosen SWAB <strong>–</strong> Sliding Windows And Bottom-up to implement, a<br />

mixture of sliding windows and bottom-up approaches. This is proven to be more<br />

accurate and efficient than some existing algorithms in [13].<br />

<strong>The</strong> algorithm begins by first initializing the buffer size such that 5 to 6 segments<br />

can be created. Data points are taken into the buffer continuously, and bottom-up is<br />

applied in the buffer. In an iteration, the leftmost segment is “reported” and will not be<br />

included in the buffer anymore. <strong>The</strong> process is repeated until the whole curve is<br />

approximated.<br />
