1933, 36mm; bronze; obverse: portraits in profile of Hindenburg and Adolf
Hitler, text: Hindenburg Hitler 30-1-1933 - 5-3-1933; reverse depicts
image of shaking hands with text that translates to: “for a free, united and
proud Germany; relevance: Hindenburg and Hitler, sitting in a tree, k-is-s-i-n-g
(just kidding); this medal commemorates the unhappy alliance
between Hindenburg and Hitler as he is appointed as Chancellor; as the
aristocratic Hindenburg did not realize that Hitler was not going to serve
as a mouthpiece, but would later prove to become Nazi party leader and
all-around bad idea; very minor wear to patina in high spots, VF
1059 SIGNING OF GREAT WAR ARMISTICE 1918
1918; 68 mm; bronze; artist: Georges-Henri Prud’homme; obverse: profile
portrait of F. Foch, Commander in Chief of Allies with lettering: F.
Foch Marechal de France; reverse: depiction of railway restaurant car at
Rethondes in the Compiegne forrest, which is where the Armistice agreement
was signed; lettered Rethondes Asignature de L’Armistice 8 - 11
Novembre 1918; medallion commemorates historic signing of World War
I Armistice treaty, which so humiliated Germany that when Nazi dictator
Adolf Hitler took France during his march to power, he forced the French
to surrender in the same carriage in the same location in 1940; few rubs
