Columbia (symbolizing America) handing sheaves of wheat to Belgian
family with ship in the background, text: Generosite Amerique - Belgique
Gratitude 1914; reverse: dual portraits of royal family Albert
and Elisabeth of Belgium; these medals were produced during WWI to
fund Belgian food fund--medals were purchased and the contribution
of money would feed families in war-torn Belgium; some wear to silver

portrait in profile of Paul d’Estournelles de Constant, with text: Paul

l’Arbirage International; reverse: depiction of man pushing large wheel
“Etre Utile” (Be Useful); this political figure was a winner of the 1909
Nobel Peace Prize; the medal commemorates his chairmanship of the parliamentary

frontal portrait of Lord Kitchner in uniform with laurel wreath
in background; reverse: allegorical figure of “Britannia” carrying
sword and shield alongside the British navy flag, with sucinct slogan
“Thorough”; Lord Kitchner is the mustachioed signature image of the
British Royal armed forces, that inspired the U.S. copycat Uncle Sam

1899; significance: Castelar y Ripoll was a Spanish Republican president
of the First Spanish Republic, but he eventually resigned and the monarchy
returned; dark patina; rubs to high spots on both sides; some dents
