The university maintains 18,488 acres off campus for AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH. The Agricultural<br />
Experiment Station is in Fargo and eight research centers, four of which are joint research-extension service centers, are located<br />
across the state. The NDSU Extension Service conducts an ambitious continuing education program, which involves some<br />

top producer, nationwide, of barley, durum<br />
spring wheat, all dry edible beans, oats and<br />
sunflowers.<br />
Lignite coal is used to generate over 90<br />
percent of the state’s electric power. Today,<br />
<strong>North</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> holds 80 percent of all lignite<br />
resources in the United <strong>State</strong>s.<br />

In addition, the 2000 <strong>State</strong> Policy Reports ranked <strong>North</strong><br />
<strong>Dakota</strong> No. 1 in the educated population component and<br />
fourth in the prudent government component.<br />
There’s a little bit of something for everyone, as <strong>North</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> is home to a<br />
variety of ethnic cultures, including Scandinavian, Ukrainian, Germans,<br />
Germans from Russia, and Native American.<br />
