Razzle Dazzle Masquerade Ball<br />

Soars Above and Beyond to<br />

Save Babies' Lives!<br />

This year's Razle Dazzle Ball was attended by more than<br />

600 people who helped raise $303,000 on March 3, <strong>2012</strong>.<br />

At our premier event, the Razzle Dazzle Ball, I had<br />

the honor to share our mission and important information<br />

about the children of the <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong><br />

with our wonderful guests. With a heavy heart, I<br />

acknowledged that these past few months have<br />

been very hard on babies in our community, but I<br />

was pleased to share our successes and how YOU<br />

are SAVING LIVES every day:<br />

I’m often asked, "Why someone would ever hurt a child?" There is no good<br />

answer to that question. However . . .<br />

. . . because of you there is a SOLUTION! And that SOLUTION is the<br />

Saint <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong>!<br />

. . . because of you, we have EXPANDED to 12 locations so ANY parent,<br />

ANYTIME, ANYWHERE can get the help they desperately need!<br />

. . . because of you, we are there when children are homeless and don’t have<br />

a bed to sleep in; hungry and have nothing to eat for several days;<br />

just imagine that!!!<br />

. . . because of you, last year, 7,195 children were NOT taken away from their<br />

parent’s and WERE NOT placed in foster care!<br />

. . . because of you, the <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong> started Operation Food Bag that feeds<br />

100’s of HUNGRY little boys and girls each month!<br />

. . . because of you, Jaquez and Jordan’s mother is still alive; when she was<br />

going to take her life she called the <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong> and our caring staff knew<br />

just what to do!<br />

Over The Top<br />

for Tots<br />

November 2011<br />

<strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong> <strong>St</strong>. Charles and 450 guests celebrated the holidays<br />

early and raised more than $80,000 with their “Over the Top for<br />

Tots” holiday luncheon at the Columns in <strong>St</strong>. Charles. The annual<br />

event supports <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong>’s “Healing Hearts Program,” which<br />

provides art and play therapy to children in need of emotional<br />

healing. Bruce Sowatsky received the Children's Champion Award<br />

and Ruth and Art Schaper the Guardian Angel award.<br />

Highlights of the luncheon included a touching video created by<br />

Splinter Media Productions to honor the <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong>’s 25th<br />

anniversary and an unexpected gift of $7,000 from Shop ‘n Save,<br />

presented by CEO, Marlene Gebhard. Additional funds were<br />

raised through a raffle; a holiday gift bazaar and a Jewelry Spin the<br />

Wheel sponsored by Vincent’s Jewelers. The “Best in Show for<br />

Cake Design” was presented to <strong>St</strong>acey’s Cakes of <strong>St</strong>. Charles.<br />

Napoli Night for the <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong><br />

More than 300 people “partied for a purpose” at the fourth<br />

annual Saint <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong>’s Young Professionals Board<br />

Napoli’s Night for the <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong>. Hosted by Bar Napoli in<br />

Clayton, the event raised over $20,000 for the Saint <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>Crisis</strong><br />

<strong>Nursery</strong>, $3,000 more than last year. Funds from “Napoli’s Night”<br />

support the <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong> and its mission of saving’s babies’ lives,<br />

keeping kids safe and building strong families<br />

Sam and Jan Orlando<br />

The Saint <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong> recently benefitted from the incredible<br />

generosity of Sam and Jan Orlando. Their 12th Annual<br />

Foundation Fundraiser was held on Saturday, January 28, <strong>2012</strong><br />

at Orlando Gardens and the <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong> was nominated by<br />

Emil and Rosemary Schmidt to receive this generous award. The<br />

<strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong> is very grateful for their generous support!<br />

Vinson Mortgage Group made a generous donation to the <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong><br />

to help prevent child abuse! Shawn Vinson presented their gift to <strong>Crisis</strong><br />

<strong>Nursery</strong> CEO, DiAnne Mueller.<br />

The <strong>2012</strong> Saint <strong>Louis</strong> Auto Charity Gala “Pistons & Pearls”, held<br />

in January at America's Center gave guests a sneak peek at the<br />

<strong>2012</strong> auto lineup and benefited Saint <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong>. Young<br />

Cat In A Basket organized and hosted the 2nd <strong>Spring</strong><br />

Shopping Boutique & Girl’s Day Out on March 31 at The<br />

Heart of <strong>St</strong>. Charles Banquet Center. The event featured<br />

75 local business owners that came together to showcase<br />

their unique products and services while supporting<br />

the Saint <strong>Louis</strong> <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong>.<br />

Approximately 500 attendees enjoyed the fun featuring<br />

everything from hand painted glasses, jewelry and fashion<br />

to handmade treats. The <strong>St</strong>yle & Wellness <strong>St</strong>ations<br />

pampered guests with Paraffin Hand Dips, Makeovers,<br />

Foot Soaks, and nutrition and health samplings. Generous<br />

donations raised over $1800, and free books from<br />

Usborne Books and free toys from Discovery Toys were<br />

donated to the <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong>.<br />

OUR MISSION:<br />

The SAINT LOUIS CRISIS NURSERY is committed to the prevention of child abuse<br />

and neglect and provides emergency intervention, respite care and support to<br />

families in crisis through:<br />

●short-term care for young children in a safe and nurturing environment;<br />

●helping families resolve crisis;<br />

●follow-up ongoing support and education to families;<br />

●community outreach and awareness;<br />

●advocacy for children and families.<br />

OUR CORE PROGRAMS:<br />

S.O.S. For Kids: short-term individualized care for children,<br />

birth through age 12;<br />

Family Empowerment: crisis counseling, community<br />

referrals, home visitation, parent education groups;<br />

24 Hour Helpline: 24-hour immediate access to a source<br />

of crisis intervention and support<br />

OUTCOMES:<br />

●More than 7,200 little ones were provided a safe haven in FY 11;<br />

●99% of the children did not experience abuse while their family<br />

participated in <strong>Crisis</strong> <strong>Nursery</strong> programs;<br />

●99% of the children returned home;<br />
