Duncan Gray now has his own<br />

He says he has always wanted<br />
o operate his own practice and<br />

"I had the opportunity to fulfil a<br />
esire to be a sole practitioner and<br />
felt I would regret it if I didn’t do<br />
t now."<br />
Mr Gray and his family moved<br />
ere from Taranaki 15 years ago<br />
nd <strong>Te</strong> <strong>Awamutu</strong> has been home<br />
ver since.<br />

agricultural tutor and then a<br />
Rural bank manager with<br />
Trustbank Waikato in <strong>Te</strong> <strong>Awamutu</strong>.<br />
In 1998 he joined a local<br />
accountancy firm as an accountant<br />
before becoming an associate<br />
for another chartered accountancy<br />
firm in 2000.<br />
He has had a wide variety of<br />
clients over the years and many<br />
are now based around the country.<br />
"Many of them were initially<br />
my clients in <strong>Te</strong> <strong>Awamutu</strong>, but<br />
have since moved to other areas<br />
and retained my services. I work<br />
with people from the Far North to<br />
Cromwell in the South Island.<br />
As Mr Gray endeavours to visit<br />
most of his clients this can now<br />
involve a lot more planning.<br />

"I enjoy getting out to see my<br />
clients, obviously the local ones<br />
are easier to visit, but I do keep in<br />
contact with them all and make an<br />
effort to catch up with them when<br />

He has been joined by his son<br />
Malcolm who has a Bachelor of<br />
Commerce from Otago University<br />
(economics major) and completed<br />
a post graduate degree in finance.<br />

Lopped locks for leukaemia<br />

Tania Omundsen and Megan Brown are closing<br />
n on $3,000 from their fundraising head shave for<br />
haveforacure.<br />
The pair had their heads shaved outside Fresh<br />
hoice on Saturday to raise funds for the Leukaemia<br />
nd Blood Foundation, while supporters helped<br />
izzle sausages to boost fundraising.<br />
Ms Omundsen dedicated her close shave to friend<br />
ebecca Sargent’s daughter Maddison (who was in<br />
ttendance with her mum on Saturday) and Miss<br />
rown to her late father Garry Brown.<br />
There was plenty of good natured bantering as<br />
hey waited to go under the razor, with Ms<br />
mundsen’s father and her five-year-old twin sons<br />
eciding to join in by having their heads shaved too.<br />
Funds can still be donated at the <strong>Courier</strong> office or<br />
