4. RECOGNITION OF SCHOOL HOLIDAYS/DAYS OF NON-ATTENDANCE – Continue to
recognize the following school holidays and days of non-attendance with no student or
staff attendance. District and school offices are typically closed on these days (past
practice).
-Labor Day on September 5, 2011
-Columbus Day on October 10, 2011
-Day of Non-Attendance on November 23, 2011 (day before Thanksgiving)
-Thanksgiving Day on November 24, 2011
-Day of Non-Attendance on November 25, 2011 (day after Thanksgiving)
-Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday on January 16, 2012
-Day of Non-Attendance on February 20, 2012 (President’s Day)
-Day of Non-Attendance on April 6, 2012 (Good Friday)
-Memorial Day on May 28, 2012
Note: Christmas Day and New Year’s Day are on a Sunday for the 2011/12 school year.
5. WINTER BREAK & SPRING BREAK – Continue to align Winter Break and Spring Break
with countywide recommendation. Winter Break would be December 22, 2011 – January
3, 2012. WHS finals would be December 19 th , 20 th , and 21 st . Spring Break would be
March 26, 2012 – March 30, 2012 (past practice).
Reminder: The District 118 school calendar may not match up with those from the Lake
County High Schools Technology Campus (LCHSTC), the Regional Office of Education
Alternative School (ROE), the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL), and/or
certain private school placements. We have been successful in accommodating any of these
school calendar differences in the past.
