How does your Embassy and
Immigration department in Germany
manage the language barrier between
Nigerians and your officials?
The application form and all necessary
documents can be provided in English
language. Also the application
interview is being held in English.
What categories of visas does your
embassy provide for Nigerians? And
what are the fees for each of them?
There are different visa categories.
They include short term visas: business,
tourist, visitor (visiting family or
friends), visa for trade fare visitors, all
other visas (e.g. medical treatment,
participants in sport or cultural events
etc.)
Long term visas: Family reunion,
student, all other long-term visas (Au-
Pair, work permit, etc.)
The visa fee for a regular short-term visa
is 60 Euros. It is payable in Naira; so the
exact amount varies with the exchange
rate.
It is not required to use the services
of a tout. In order to make quick cash,
touts are ready to give you wrong advice.
This might turn out to be a challenge
when it comes to the visa application.
Rather let family or real friends help
you and use the extensive information
offered under www.lagos.diplo.de - do
not forget: The only fee is to be paid at
the counter inside the Consulate General
against receipt.
Does Germany operate any visa
lottery that Nigerians can participate
in?
No. Getting the visa to travel to
Germany depends on a transparent
process, not on luck. The overwhelming
majority of Nigerians living in Germany
do so in accordance with the German
laws. They greatly contribute to an
intensification of our bilateral relations,
establishing new cultural and
economical links.
What are the strong areas of
bilateral business and trade between
Germany and Nigeria?
G e r m a n - N i g e r i a n b u s i n e s s
relations are manifold and healthy,
German and Nigerian business partners
meet annually at the German-Nigerian
Business Forum, alternating between the
two countries. The next Forum will take
place in late 2011 in Nigeria. Bilateral
trade volume was worth 2 billion Euro in
2000 Kor '2010, we are still awaiting the
final data, but as of November 2010.
trade volume was already at 2.8 billion
Euro. Germany's exports to Nigeria
reflect our country's strong sectors -
industrial machinery, chemical products,
and automobiles. The largest part of
Nigerian exports to Germany consists of
crude oil. The second biggest item on
Germany's shopping list comprises
agricultural products such as vegetables.
