EUROPEAN BUSINESS COMPETENCE*
LICENCE (EBC*L)
EBC*L was established internationally as a standard
of business administration education. With
headquarters in Austria, the certification system is a
learning target catalogue, and a standardized
examination which guarantees international
comparability of the results. The Unit is accredited to
operate a Preparatory Centre for the EBC*L
examinations. The programme which is already
being subscribe for is a three level business
examination that grants competence to successful
candidates to live and work in any part of the
European Union or work in other parts of the world
for business of European Union origin.
SHORT TERM TRAINING KNOWLEDGE
FACTORY LIMITED
In addition to the above, the Unit also entered into a
collaborative arrangement with the United Kingdom
based knowledge Factory Limited (KFL). The KFL,
an institution and personal capacity development
and Knowledge Transfer organization supports
partner organizations through a wide range of valueadded
expertise through an international network.
These trainings have already been scheduled as part
of the 2009 trainings of the Chamber They cover:

* _Publicity and Public Relations
* _Securing Grants and Fund raising
* _Information Technology Training programme
In addition the Unit in the new year would also run
courses for Micro Small & Medium Enterprises
under these two broad headings:
* _Start Your Own Business (SYOB)

* _Program on Rehabilitating Distressed
Enterprises (PRIDE)
UNIDO BUSINESS INFORMATION CENTRE
The performance of the Information Department of
the Unit got a boost in the year. The intervention from
the United Nations Industrial Organisation (UNIDO)
supplied 10 computers and a v-sat to the Unit to
broaden its scope for information services delivery to
members and other members of the business
community. Our information deliveries included but
are not limited to: Information on LCCI members,
Information on export opportunities, Information on
International Trade Fairs World wide, Contact
Address of suppliers and importers of goods and
services and other forms of international business
contacts. The Centre also serves as a training room
for members and non-members. Our Computer
based trainings cover the following:
* _Computer appreciation for beginners (Vista
2007) (2 programmes)
* _Internet appreciation for beginners and new users
(2 programmes)
* _Presentation skills for Senior and Middle level
Managers
* _Understanding the Internet Market Place for
Business Profitability (2 Programmes)
