The scene from the meadow when he shifted in front of her ran through her mind. She nodded and
looked up at him. “Okay.” She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “Be safe, please. I don’t
think I could bear it if you got hurt.”
Jacob took a chance and leaned down to kiss her lips softly. “I will. You too. Stay inside please.”
She wasn’t sure how she felt about his kiss, but she didn’t want to be angry. She decided to accept
it. “You don’t need to worry about that. I’m going to stay in my room all day today.”
He nodded and pulled her into a hug. “All right. I’ll see you soon, baby.”
She walked with him down the stairs and said goodbye one last time before she shut the door. She
sighed and turned to press her back against it.
“How’d it go?” Jasper asked from the kitchen.
Renesmee shrugged and walked in to lean against the counter next to him. “I don’t know. I think it
went well, but I still don’t know what to do.”
Jasper patted her hand. “Give it time, Renesmee. A rushed decision is usually a bad decision.”
“Yeah. I’m going to go read for a while, I think.”
Jasper nodded, and she went back to her room.
