The following prescribed show attire is required for all<br />

exhibitors in fitting and showing, breed classes, and<br />

market classes.<br />

1. No farm names or other identification shall appear on<br />

show uniforms.<br />

2. Safe appropriate attire, including footwear, is required<br />

at all times. No open-toed shoes.<br />

3. No spaghetti straps, tank tops, or exposed midriffs.<br />

4. Shirts must be tucked in and no undergarments may<br />

be showing. No shorts will be allowed.<br />

5. Caps or other headwear shall not be worn in the show<br />

ring, except for protective headgear in the Horse<br />

Division.<br />

6. Cell phone or other electronic use by exhibitors is prohibited<br />

while exhibiting/during his or her show time.<br />

NOTE: Exhibitors not adhering to the show attire<br />

requirement will forfeit their premiums.<br />

Please note that girls may choose to wear a skirt of an<br />

appropriate length, instead of slacks. They must be in<br />

the appropriate color.<br />

CECIL COUNTY FAIR 2012<br />

General rules and regulations for <strong>Fair</strong> participants<br />

The <strong>Cecil</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> Board has authority and control<br />

over the operation, conduct and staging of the<br />

annual <strong>Cecil</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Fair</strong>. To this end the following<br />

rules and regulations have been established to provide<br />

guidance to all participants.<br />

1. All reasonable precautions will be taken for the protection<br />

of people while on the <strong>Fair</strong>grounds but the<br />

Board shall not be responsible for injury to any person.<br />

2. During the week of the fair, NO DOGS WILL BE<br />

ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS, except as contestants<br />

in the dog show, pretty animal contest, or used as a<br />

seeing eye dog or aid dog.<br />

3. The <strong>Fair</strong> Board reserves the right to interpret all<br />

rules and regulations and resolve any situation which<br />

may arise and is not restricted by the lack of a specific<br />

rule or regulation.<br />

4. All reasonable precautions will be taken for the protection<br />

of exhibits but the Board shall not be responsible<br />

for any loss or damage.<br />

5. Persons living in adjoining states who are and were<br />

enrolled in either a 4-H club or as a 4-H Volunteer in<br />

<strong>Cecil</strong> <strong>County</strong> on or before May 1, 2012 may enter.<br />

6. Premiums, prizes and awards will be paid to the<br />

exhibitor by mail within 60 days of the end of the <strong>Fair</strong>,<br />

unless otherwise stated in the class listing. Exhibitors<br />

not receiving their premium within 60 days should<br />

contact the <strong>Fair</strong> Secretary at (410) 392-3440. Checks<br />

must be cashed within 60 days of the date of issue or<br />

they will be void and the money will stay with the<br />

<strong>Cecil</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Fair</strong>.<br />

7. Only one entry per exhibitor per class will be accepted.<br />

(Exceptions are stated in individual section rules.)<br />

Show attire regulations for Exhibitors<br />

8. Every purebred animal must be owned and registered<br />

in the name of the exhibitor by the appropriate<br />

breed association, with exception of documented leases.<br />

9. The <strong>Fair</strong> reserves the right to reschedule or cancel<br />

any event without prior notice and without incurring<br />

any liability except the return of any entry fee paid.<br />

10. Only animal exhibitors who need to stay overnight<br />

on the fairgrounds to care for stock, must have a special<br />

permission slip. This can be obtained from the<br />

University of Maryland Extension 4-H Office. If you<br />

plan to participate in herdsman, please see each section<br />

for specific rules.<br />

11. Participants must comply with the Rules and<br />

Regulations listed for each department and section.<br />

12. Non-compliance with any Rule or Regulation may<br />

result in forfeiture of premiums. Stalls must be<br />

cleaned before your animals leave the fair grounds.<br />

Stalls will be checked and exhibitor will be cleared to<br />

leave by barn chair. Animals are NOT to leave the fair<br />

grounds AND herdsman is NOT to be taken down<br />

before 11:00pm on Saturday, July 28, 2012. Premiums<br />

will also be forfeited if a participant fails to clean up<br />

the area where an animal is kept.<br />

13. The <strong>Cecil</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> Board encourages all 4-H<br />

and open class participants to market themselves<br />

and their products, but animals and products<br />

entered into the competition at the <strong>Fair</strong> are NOT to<br />

be sold and leave the fairgrounds during the <strong>Fair</strong><br />

week. Animals which are not entered in <strong>Fair</strong> classes<br />

will not be permitted on the fairgrounds at any<br />

time, for the health and safety of all exhibitors’<br />

animals. Please contact your barn chairperson if<br />

you have questions.<br />

Dairy Cattle, Dairy Steers & Dairy Goats - White<br />

slacks with white shirt; neckpieces are optional.<br />

Beef, Meat Goats, Sheep & Swine - Green or tan<br />

slacks, white or tan shirt with green or black neckpiece<br />

optional. Green, tan, or black suspenders also<br />

optional.<br />

Horses - Appropriate riding clothes and headgear as<br />

defined in the MD 4-H Horse & Pony Rule Book,<br />

including helmets (a must).<br />

Dogs - Attire that is suitable for showing a dog - Boys:<br />

slacks, shirt and tie; Girls: skirt or slacks and blouse<br />

or shirt.<br />

Rabbit and Cavy - No open-toed shoes; any appropriate<br />

shirt, jeans or slacks, skirt, or shorts accepted.<br />

Poultry, Small and Large Pets - No open-toed shoes;<br />

any appropriate shirt, jeans or slacks, skirt, or shorts<br />

accepted.<br />

Pretty Animal - No open-toed shoes. Any appropriate<br />

attire or costumes.
