The following prescribed show attire is required for all
exhibitors in fitting and showing, breed classes, and
market classes.
1. No farm names or other identification shall appear on
show uniforms.
2. Safe appropriate attire, including footwear, is required
at all times. No open-toed shoes.
3. No spaghetti straps, tank tops, or exposed midriffs.
4. Shirts must be tucked in and no undergarments may
be showing. No shorts will be allowed.
5. Caps or other headwear shall not be worn in the show
ring, except for protective headgear in the Horse
Division.
6. Cell phone or other electronic use by exhibitors is prohibited
while exhibiting/during his or her show time.
NOTE: Exhibitors not adhering to the show attire
requirement will forfeit their premiums.
Please note that girls may choose to wear a skirt of an
appropriate length, instead of slacks. They must be in
the appropriate color.

General rules and regulations for Fair participants
The Cecil County Fair Board has authority and control
over the operation, conduct and staging of the
annual Cecil County Fair. To this end the following
rules and regulations have been established to provide
guidance to all participants.
1. All reasonable precautions will be taken for the protection
of people while on the Fairgrounds but the
Board shall not be responsible for injury to any person.
2. During the week of the fair, NO DOGS WILL BE
ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS, except as contestants
in the dog show, pretty animal contest, or used as a
seeing eye dog or aid dog.
3. The Fair Board reserves the right to interpret all
rules and regulations and resolve any situation which
may arise and is not restricted by the lack of a specific
rule or regulation.
4. All reasonable precautions will be taken for the protection
of exhibits but the Board shall not be responsible
for any loss or damage.
5. Persons living in adjoining states who are and were
enrolled in either a 4-H club or as a 4-H Volunteer in
Cecil County on or before May 1, 2012 may enter.
6. Premiums, prizes and awards will be paid to the
exhibitor by mail within 60 days of the end of the Fair,
unless otherwise stated in the class listing. Exhibitors
not receiving their premium within 60 days should
contact the Fair Secretary at (410) 392-3440. Checks
must be cashed within 60 days of the date of issue or
they will be void and the money will stay with the
Cecil County Fair.
7. Only one entry per exhibitor per class will be accepted.
(Exceptions are stated in individual section rules.)

8. Every purebred animal must be owned and registered
in the name of the exhibitor by the appropriate
breed association, with exception of documented leases.
9. The Fair reserves the right to reschedule or cancel
any event without prior notice and without incurring
any liability except the return of any entry fee paid.
10. Only animal exhibitors who need to stay overnight
on the fairgrounds to care for stock, must have a special
permission slip. This can be obtained from the
University of Maryland Extension 4-H Office. If you
plan to participate in herdsman, please see each section
for specific rules.
11. Participants must comply with the Rules and
Regulations listed for each department and section.
12. Non-compliance with any Rule or Regulation may
result in forfeiture of premiums. Stalls must be
cleaned before your animals leave the fair grounds.
Stalls will be checked and exhibitor will be cleared to
leave by barn chair. Animals are NOT to leave the fair
grounds AND herdsman is NOT to be taken down
before 11:00pm on Saturday, July 28, 2012. Premiums
will also be forfeited if a participant fails to clean up
the area where an animal is kept.
13. The Cecil County Fair Board encourages all 4-H
and open class participants to market themselves
and their products, but animals and products
entered into the competition at the Fair are NOT to
be sold and leave the fairgrounds during the Fair
week. Animals which are not entered in Fair classes
will not be permitted on the fairgrounds at any
time, for the health and safety of all exhibitors’
animals. Please contact your barn chairperson if
you have questions.
Dairy Cattle, Dairy Steers & Dairy Goats - White
slacks with white shirt; neckpieces are optional.
Beef, Meat Goats, Sheep & Swine - Green or tan
slacks, white or tan shirt with green or black neckpiece
optional. Green, tan, or black suspenders also
optional.
Horses - Appropriate riding clothes and headgear as
defined in the MD 4-H Horse & Pony Rule Book,
including helmets (a must).
Dogs - Attire that is suitable for showing a dog - Boys:
slacks, shirt and tie; Girls: skirt or slacks and blouse
or shirt.
Rabbit and Cavy - No open-toed shoes; any appropriate
shirt, jeans or slacks, skirt, or shorts accepted.
Poultry, Small and Large Pets - No open-toed shoes;
any appropriate shirt, jeans or slacks, skirt, or shorts
accepted.
Pretty Animal - No open-toed shoes. Any appropriate
attire or costumes.
