Food from the Land-G10 Geography with Miss Spring
Arborg is a community surrounded in agriculture, therefore this unit in geography
was easy for students to see the relevance of the content being covered. We made
many connections within the community during this unit. The following are pictures

Trying to go back in time and capture the history of
agriculture on a local and global level, we visited the
school at the Heritage Village and learned from local,
David Gislason’s, experiences in agriculture.
We visited Johnston’s Dairy Farm. We toured the old and new barn and saw the
changes in their business of dairy farming.
Adrienne Percy visited our classroom to talk about the Politics of Food. She talked
about the industrialization of food and what and why she has learned about “where
our food comes from.”

On June 5, we will be going on a field trip to the Fortwhyte center for a program to
learn about the wonderful world of GPS, GIS, and other technologies to help us
make the most of Manitoba’s great outdoors.
