Strikes Back
For more than three decades, Zenith’s El
Primero movement has been the epitome
of precision and technical elegance. Despite
Zenith’s tremendous watchmaking history, the El
Primero has been able to carve a special place for
itself in the brand’s history thanks to its ability to
beat ten times a second and subsequent breakthroughs
in its dry lubrication construction and
specially-adapted power reserve function.
Although the El Primero has been so acclaimed,
Zenith is not stopping in further
developing it. With new CEO Jean-Frédéric
Dufour taking the helm, the El Primero was
adapted for a new El Primero Striking 10th
timepiece. The watch is the first salvo in Mr.
Dufour’s efforts to highlight the technical expertise
that brought Zenith to the forefront of
movement manufacturing in the first place.
With a jumping seconds chronograph, the
El Primero Striking 10th provides visibility
of the smallest fraction of time measured by
a series-produced mechanical movements.
The making of one Striking 10th timepiece involves
nine months of work by twenty watchmakers.
