Monk, and two by Duke Ellington (‘Something to Live For’ in collaboration with Billy Strayhorn). As a bonus, added<br />

is Lacy’s complete first LP as a leader, ‘Soprano Sax’ (Prestige PRLP7125), which also includes compositions by both<br />

musicians as Bob Brookmeyer, Conte Candoli, Gene Quill, Mel Lewis, and of course Mulligan himself. As a bonus,<br />

another complete LP by the same band, ‘Gerry Mulligan Presents a Concert in Jazz’, which was recorded at Webster<br />

Hall in studio conditions (with no audience present) the following year. The latter album contains fascinating arrangements<br />

of George Russell’s ‘All About Rosie’ and Johnny Carisi’s ‘Israel’, penned by their composers for these<br />
