Cutting Fluids
ITW Rocol North America has developed Rustlik
Ultracut 370R and Ultracut 375R. These biostable
semi-synthetic cutting fluids enable manufacturing
plants to consolidate to one universal fluid. They are
available in a non-chlorinated version, Ultracut 370R
or a chlorinated version, Ultracut 375R. These cutting
fluids can be used for machining and grinding a
range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. They offer
rust protection, corrosion protection, lubrication,
tolerance to contamination, biostability and longer
sump life than soluble-oil cutting fluids. For information,

Diecutting Rules
For the diemaking industry, Sandvik Materials
Technology has introduced a range of special
hard edge coated rules. Designated Sandvik Dieflex
Platinum and a slightly harder body version, Sandvik
DieHard Platinum, the rules have a hardness
of 4000-5000HV. Another key feature is a smooth
surface on the bevel, resulting in reduced friction
during the cutting process.
Sandvik Dieflex MircroCut has all the benefits of
Sandvik Dieflex rules but has a thinner edge bevel
and a double bevel profile, which is different from
standard cutting rules. This reduces cutting pressure

Tempered Steel
Blue Blade Steel has developed tempered steel
to provide consistency, bendability and pliability,
while preventing product failure due to deformation,
stress cracking and brittleness.

and tempering
process enables

the internal steel
structure to produce
material
with specialized
performance characteristics.
The pre-tempering process eliminates
heat treating, and the computer-controlled tempering
process provides material uniformity, consistency
and lot-to-lot repeatability.

Faro PowerGage, a measurement
device with
CAD-to-part analysis
capability. This portable
measurement device
enables manufacturers
to verify that a part meets the CAD file’s specs to
within 0.0002 of an inch, right on the machine that’s
producing the part. It resembles a short, metallic
arm and runs on a version of Delcam’s PowerInspect.
