Things to know… Eras This is a term you will see frequently throughout reunion. It refers to all the casts from a given year. For example, the 98 era includes Casts A, B, C, D and E 1998. Each era will be given their own meeting room at the Sheraton for individual cast meetings or informal gatherings during the reunion. Functions Your reunion nametag (included with your registration package) will be required for admittance to all main activities. If you lose your nametag, the replacement cost is $60.00. Alumni Era Show Each era will have time to rehearse for their performance. Rooms are provided and preassigned for rehearsal time. Most rehearsals take place Saturday, July 26. Bands begin rehearsing on Friday, July 25. Hotel Rooms In order to have a smooth check-in at the hotel, please communicate with all your roommates to confirm who will be sharing your room BEFORE making a room reservation. This way, those arriving early can check into the room, resulting in less confusion or double booking, which can lead to greater costs or disappointment for you. Calling Cast Webmasters Are you developing a web site for your cast? Do you already have one? Are you just thinking about it? There will be an informal meeting during reunion to share ideas, tips and techniques with other cast webmasters. Check the information board at the registration desk for the time and place. Some topics that may be discussed are: • Pros and cons of free sites (like Geocites) vs. paid sites • Using MS-Frontpage or other web page development programs vs. hacking HTML with a text editor • How to register a domain name • Website design • Use of Frames • Use of META tags • HTML utilities • Page backgrounds • Menus for accessing multiple pages • Scanning photo prints into digital files • Uploading your tour or reunion photos to your web page • URL links back to UWPIAA and online directory 6 spring ‘03 UPB EAT Audio/Visual Equipment TV/ VCRs and boom boxes are available on loan. (You will have to leave a piece of identification, such as a credit card or driver’s license, as a deposit.) Other equipment can be rented from the hotel at an additional charge to you. You must make these arrangements with the Sheraton directly. On a budget? Here are some money-saving tips for Reunion 2003. 1. Save up to $100 by registering before May 3. 2. If you are bringing a spouse/partner or family members, take advantage of the special couple/ family package 3. Double and triple up in your hotel room to share room costs. 4. Consider making flight reservations early. Fare sales have been coming and going, but the deals won’t last forever. 5. Leave the rental car at the airport – you won’t need it. The airport is right on the metro line (called the “T” in Boston), and tourist attractions and restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel. The “T” should only cost you $1.00 from the airport to the hotel. (Taxi service is also available from the airport to the hotel.) Registration Costs (All costs are in U.S. dollars) Early Registration (by May 3) Individual $ 165.00 Couple/Family $ 250.00 Additional Children $ 25.00 Youth $ 65.00 Advance Registration (May 4 – June 14) Individual $ 190.00 Couple/Family $ 300.00 Additional Children $ 30.00 Youth $ 70.00 Early Registration ( June 15 – July 26) Individual $ 225.00 Couple/Family $ 350.00 Additional Children $ 40.00 Youth $ 75.00 Note: Early and Advance Registration Deadlines are effective as of 12:00 midnight on the date given above. Online, fax and telephone reservations will not be taken after Tuesday, July 15, at 12:00 midnight Eastern time. After that date, registrants will need to register on-site at Reunion. Registrations sent by mail must be postmarked by July 10 to ensure the registration is processed in time for Reunion. Individual Package Includes: One person attending all events, whether alumnus, alumna, or guest. Does not include any children. Couple/Family Package Includes: One person, one spouse/partner and up to two children aged 3 – 13 years attending all events (includes child meals for children). Registrations for additional children may be purchased with the “Additional Child” or “Youth” options. Additional child Each additional child age 3-13 when there are more than two children included in a family registration OR a child attending with and individiual registrant. Children 2 and under do not need to pay. Youth With the Individual or Family packages, youth aged 14 to 18 may be added by purchasing youth registrations (includes adult meal). Child Care The Sheraton Boston Hotel does not provide childcare services, so you will need to contact an outside company if you need babysitting services during Reunion. One such company, which is bonded and works with the Boston hotels, is "Parents In A Pinch," at phone 617-739-5437. The UWPIAA does not endorse or recommend any outside vendor, but is making this information available for your convenience. You may also contact the concierge at the Sheraton for further referrals. Sightseeing in Boston With so much to do in the Boston area, you are encouraged to arrive early to Reunion or stay after it ends (special Reunion rates at the Sheraton are valid three days before and after Reunion, subject to availability). As the birthplace of the American Revolution, Boston has numerous historical sites and museums, including several children’s museums. Other attractions include sports venues, a zoo and aquarium, beaches, and even whalewatching on nearby Cape Cod.
