To Chile for the first use of the RL 350 V

Whereas the Big and the Small North are
being ruled by the Atacama desert and its
foothills, the Central Zone and the Small
South are marked by a fertile longitudinal
valley where farming, cultivation of fruit and
wine-growing are possible. Even though 13
percent of the 17 million Chileans work in
the field of agriculture, they contribute only
3 percent to the gross national income.
On 17th April we arrive after a 15-hour
flight at the airport “Arturo Merino Benitez”
in Santiago de Chile. We leave Santiago on
the Panamericana southbound, we pass
the Rio Maipo and drive through the Chilean
agriculture belt to Chillán. Alongside
the Autopista, where is always a lot of traffic,
there are many old and traditional winegrowing
estates as for example the winegrowing
estate Santa Rita, whose history
dates back to 1880, or the wine-growing
estate Miguel Torres, a pioneer of winegrowing
in Chile with Spanish origins.
In the late evening hours, we arrive at Chillán,
a town with 150,000 inhabitants. At
the central place, the Mercado, Don Santa
Maria Andrea is waiting for us. He is the
owner of a RL 350 “Mouse”. Don Santa, as
he is called by his employees, works as agricultural
contractor together with his father
in law Don Elid Casanova. Beyond this, he
cultivates his own lands that extend to 200
and sugar beets
“Chile or a crazy geography” this is how the research traveller Benjamin Subercaseauv
described the country in the southwest of the South American continent. A unique geography,
4,300 kilometres long and 180 km wide on the average, with a cross-section of
all climatic zones but the tropical zone. Despite of its length, Chile is one of the smaller
countries in South America, but still it is twice as large as Germany. The country is divided
into five big regions: the Big North, the Small North, the Central Zone, the Small South and
the Big South.

sugar beets. In Chile, the sugar beet is on
the way up. Currently there are 50,000 hectares
being farmed with sugar beets (with
an upward trend). With their own company
they are cultivating 120 hectares of sugar
beets. Thanks to the light and fertile volcano
ground with a soil structure that reaches
up to 3 metres in depth, harvests of up to
120 tons per hectare are not unusual.

El Carmen: A village in Chile and the new Kleine self-propelled harvester
It seemed like a fiesta when the Kleine SF
10 arrived at the contemplative village El
Carmen, situated 60 km from Chillán. Many
children were running after the machine on
the street, the older inhabitants of the village
were admiring it at the roadside. They
had never seen such a “huge yellow thing”
for beet harvesting in El Carmen. So far,
tractor-drawn one row harvesters formed
the image on the beet fields of the municipality
until Mr. Hernan Martinez decided to
bring a good second-hand SF 10 and LS 18

This year, Don Santa has altogether
160,000 tons of sugar beets that will be
loaded by his new Kleine Mouse. The sugar
factory Iansa is in Cocharcas, 15 km from
Chillán.
Right away at the next day, the driver training
starts. The Kleine Mouse is supposed
to be used in two shifts. Three employees
have been chosen for a training as “Mouse
drivers”. Prompt, the drivers enjoy handling
the new machine until our service department
manager Thomas Flörke moves up the

At his company “Statione Matilde”, Martinez
has to lift 450 hectares of beets. After
an examination and verification of all the

next investment for the harvest in 2012 is
already planned: A RL 200 SF for loading

From the 27th of April until the 1st of Mai,
the “Salon International de l’agriculture
au Maroc” (SIAM) took place for the sixth
time in Meknès, Morocco. More than 600
exhibitors from 20 countries including all
renowned West European manufacturers
of agricultural technique, were presenting
themselves with a broad range of machines
and devices at the trade fair.
As for Franz Kleine, this has been the first
participation on Moroccan ground. In northern
Morocco and in the region around Casablanca,

Here in the European part of Russia, about
Sugar is scarce
The demand for cane sugar at the world market is high, up to 900
Euros per ton for smaller amounts have been paid these last days at
the market. After two poor harvests in Australia and Brazil the world
market is in deficit. In Brazil, the cane sugar harvest will start in the
next few days and the prospects for the harvest are good.
There is even a record harvest expected in Thailand. (hn)

Production of components for the Russian market
650 km to the south-east of Moscow, is one
of the country’s most important areas for
the cultivation of sugar beets. 50 employees
are working in the exclusive commercialisation
of the KLEINE products in Russia.
Besides the service and spare parts supply,
also the final assembly of the topper and
lifting unit as well as the hopper attachment
to the machines determined for the
Russian market are a part of this task. As
always, the delivery of the material and the
carrier vehicles is carried out from Salzkotten.

The major event for the agricultural industry in England
The Cereals 2011 will take place on the 15th and 16th of June in
Boothby Graffoe near Lincoln, Lincolnshire.
Last year we had the great opportunity to be allowed to show our
cleaning and loading machine RL 350 V before its first practical use
in England at the stand of British Sugar.
In doing so we have been supported by our trader Jeremy Riley.
This year, our employee Ottmar Fischer, in charge of sales in England,
will welcome you at our own information stand number K1218.
The Cereals is the leading major event for the agricultural industry in
England with a surface of more than 64 hectares for stands and live
demonstrations. More than 450 manufacturers are there to inform
about 25,300 visitors of the latest products. (mw)

Specialists had discovered one of our test
vehicles on the field during trial operations.
Again and again, our customers expressed
their wish for a big-hopper machine as an
alternative to the SF 10-2.
Our answer to this: We are working under
high pressure so that we will be able to present
our new technique to you in time for
