FOUNDATIONnews The 5th Annual Pine-to-Palm Pasty Picnic was held in Bradenton, Florida in March, 2010 at the Peridia Golf and Country Club. Hosted by Foundation Board Member Mary Paoli, with special assistance from Jack and Marion Jacobs, this annual event reconnects friends and alumni of GCC to celebrate the achievements, accomplishments, and continued success of the college. As a result of this event, an annual ‘Pine-to- Palm Scholarship’ has been established to benefit students attending GCC. Another great example of our alumni supporting the future alumni. FOUNDATIONnews GCC Foundation Taste of Gogebic Range New Scholarships Established Audrey M. Lindquist Memorial Scholarship At the request of David G. Lindquist, an annual scholarship has been established in memory of his wife, Audrey M. Lindquist. The gifted funds will be awarded as a $500 scholarship each year, beginning in the 2011-12 academic year. David Lindquist is the former Dean of Students at GCC and a Foundation Board Member. Whether it is to carry on tradition, a legacy or a family name, establishing a scholarship with the Gogebic Community College Foundation is a wonderful way to keep memories and stories alive. For more information about establishing a scholarship at GCC, please call the Foundation Office at 906-932-4231, ext. 202. 9. Stephens Family Scholarship The 2nd Annual Taste of Gogebic Range event will be held on April 18, 2011 at the David G. Lindquist Student Center on campus. Local restaurants and businesses from the Gogebic Range showcase their specialties and attendees are invited to sample many scrumptious items - everything from soup, salad, appetizers, homemade pastas, and delectable desserts. Call the Foundation Office to reserve your tickets – we anticipate a sold-out event! At the request of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Stephens, the Stephens Family Scholarship has been established with the GCC Foundation. The scholarship will be awarded to a pre-engineering student, either a freshman or sophomore with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, who is continuing their education at a four-year university. Alumni and Friends Invest in Gogebic The Gogebic Community College Foundation has over seventy endowed scholarships and over a dozen annual scholarships that it awards to new and returning students each year. Scholarships are a vital resource for students as over seventy percent of GCC students qualify for financial aid. Scholarships may also help recruit and retain students in athletics, specific academic areas or simply help defray the cost of a college education.
