SCOPE OF WORK TENDER NO :<br />
Common shutdown jobs, Capital repair jobs and Maintenance <strong>of</strong> Heat<br />
Exchangers in Utilities Department <strong>of</strong> VISAKHAPATNAM <strong>Steel</strong> Plant<br />
gaskets & tightening <strong>of</strong> bolts & leak checking and rectification if<br />
required.<br />
2.3 Technological assistance for upkeep <strong>of</strong> demisters <strong>of</strong> E10/E11 towers<br />
(Item no.: 12 <strong>of</strong> BOQ)<br />
a) One no. <strong>of</strong> Nitrogen water tower & One no. Air water tower are installed<br />
in Air separation unit each <strong>of</strong> which one no. <strong>of</strong> demister. The demister<br />
consists <strong>of</strong> about 50 layers SS wire mesh bundled in SS flat grid.<br />
b) The job :<br />
Disassembly <strong>of</strong> the demister from the position, dropping them<br />
Removal <strong>of</strong> individual layer <strong>of</strong> wire mesh<br />
Mechanical cleaning with hand<br />
Chemical/hot water cleaning <strong>of</strong> wire meshes<br />
Assembly back <strong>of</strong> the mesh into the grid after cleaning<br />
Putting back the demister in position after obtaining clearance<br />
Any repair on grid or grid supporting structure if required shall be<br />
carried out by the contractor<br />
2.4 Technological assistance for upkeep <strong>of</strong> Air water tower/Nitrogen<br />
water tower E10/E11<br />
2.4.1 Sl no. 13 & 14 <strong>of</strong> BOQ (Dismantling & fixing back <strong>of</strong> trays <strong>of</strong> E-10/E-<br />
11) opening <strong>of</strong> man hole covers:<br />
Arrangement <strong>of</strong> lighting & air hose connections from the nearest air<br />
& power connection (Hoses, hand lamp with cable/distributor board will<br />
be provided by VSP)<br />
Arrangement <strong>of</strong> platform for removal <strong>of</strong> the bottom most tray<br />
Removal <strong>of</strong> inspection covers <strong>of</strong> all trays<br />
Marking <strong>of</strong> each trays <strong>of</strong> individual layer with suitable unique<br />
identification number Removal <strong>of</strong> all trays <strong>of</strong> all the layers (9 layers for<br />
E-10 & 7 layers for E-11)<br />
Fixing back <strong>of</strong> the trays as per the marking<br />
Fixing back man hole covers with new gaskets<br />
2.4.2 Sl no. 15 <strong>of</strong> BOQ (cleaning <strong>of</strong> trays <strong>of</strong> E-10/E-11)<br />
a) Mechanical cleaning: Mechanical cleaning will be done in case trays<br />
are not dismantled. The trays in each layer are to be cleaned with wire<br />
brush for removal <strong>of</strong> scales/dust etc<br />
b) Chemical cleaning: In case all the trays are dismantled from position<br />
then chemical cleaning has to be carried out. The trays are to be<br />
immersed in about 5% sulphamic acid solution bath for a period <strong>of</strong> 6 to 8<br />
hours & then blown with steam to remove scale. If required cleaning with<br />
air/brush shall be done.<br />
2.4.3 Sl no. 16 <strong>of</strong> BOQ (internal cleaning <strong>of</strong> E-10/E-11)<br />
