The United States has around 3 million Arab Americans, the largest community
being in Dearborn, Michigan. Many families have sons and daughters serving
overseas in the Armed Forces. However, Dearborn's Arab American community is
doing it tough in the war on terror. Many families feel that they have been
victimised, cast collectively as terrorist sympathisers, caught between what
they regard as vindictive security agencies and the random violence of red necks
on the street.

Australia's Lebanese community is being blamed for crimes of violence. A series
of rapes in south-west Sydney, a record jail sentence and frenzied media
coverage have put the community under unprecedented scrutiny at a time of anti-
Muslim backlash from September 11 and the refugee debate. The program looks at
whether Lebanese Australians are being demonised by mainstream media and
politicians for the sins of a few, or whether there is a more complex problem
that needs to be confronted.
