Andrew O’Gara, FSC In 2006 St. Raymond High School for Boys created, in honor of a true leader and man of significance in St. Raymond High School for Boys’ history, an endowment scholarship fund in honor of Brother Andrew O’Gara, FSC. Commitment and strength are words synonymous with Brother Andrew. Upon his name and legacy the school is building and further ensuring its ability to serve the young men who pass through the halls. Brother Andrew died in November, 2008 at the age of 80—but his legacy lives on. St. Raymond is committed to strengthening the school by accepting the strongest students without regard for their ability to pay the full tuition, ensuring that a St. Raymond education remains affordable, enriching the school community by reaching out to the diverse population of New York City. You can become a member of this society through direct cash gifts, or you can make a Planned Gift to St. Raymond High School for Boys. “Clearly Brother Andrew is the rock upon which St. Raymond is built and he will always be the spirit behind its future success...let’s say a prayer for him and sing ‘in our hearts’ the school song one more time for Brother Andrew.” (Angelo DiPierro ‘77) To learn more about becoming a member of Brother Andrew’s Legacy Society, please contact the Advancement Office at 718.824-5050 x107. grantS received National Hockey League Players Association A $15,000 grant was awarded to St. Raymond High School by the Goals & Dreams Fund of the National Hockey League Players Association. The Goals and Dreams Fund is intended to provide equipment grants for hockey programs. Launched in 1999, the Goals and Dreams Fund has donated more than 17 million dollars in full sets of equipment in over 20 countries and 13,000 children. St. Raymond was able to purchase 15 full sets of hockey equipment with this grant. U.S. Lacrosse Equipment Grant Program The USL (U.S. Lacrosse) Equipment Grant Program provides funding for lacrosse sticks and protective gear to lacrosse programs in their first year of operation. St. Raymond received $5000.00 to purchase 24 sets of equipment. Since 1998, the USL grant program has made awards to 260 programs nationwide totalling more that 1.4 million dollars.
