II. SHELLS FILLED WITH AMATOL<br />

(9.2-inch and smaller)<br />

NOTE.-No artificial mounds will be needed, except a small traverse between<br />

each pile of 20 filled shells (9.2-inch).<br />

The Layout.-The layout is as follows: 1. Trench: width, I meter; depth,<br />

50 em. 2. On each side of the trench, one pile of 9.2-inch shells, the total not<br />

exceeding ten in number (e. g., two rows of five each). 3. Between each pile a<br />
