Dear Auction Friends,
Twenty-eight years ago the Great Gold Rush Auction was created to
generate new funding for the UNC Charlotte student-athlete scholarship
fund. What began as a small fundraiser has become the largest
fundraising event held annually to benefit the Charlotte 49ers. We
continue to be overwhelmed by the outpouring of assistance we receive
from those in the Charlotte community who graciously donate their
merchandise and services so that we can reach our goal.
Numerous individuals and businesses kindly give their time and energy to
ensure the success of this event. In particular, we are grateful for the
continued sponsorship of Chartwells and Compass Group. Each year
they donate a fabulous meal for our attendees that is certainly
remembered as a highlight of the evening. Tonight you will be equally
impressed not only with the variety and taste of the food but also the
presentation. In addition, we are very appreciative of the many people
who have helped solicit the items available this evening and of those who
have purchased tables and individual tickets to the event.
I hope that this evening you will be able to relax and enjoy yourself.
There are more than 1,200 items available for bid. Bid often, bid high
and be assured that you are making a difference in the lives of many
well-deserving young people.
