2. Changing <strong>My</strong> <strong>webMethods</strong> <strong>Server</strong> Configuration<br />

<strong>Guide</strong>lines for Multiple <strong>My</strong> <strong>webMethods</strong> <strong>Server</strong> Instances<br />

You can run multiple instances of <strong>My</strong> <strong>webMethods</strong> <strong>Server</strong> on the same machine, but each<br />

server instance must have its own external resources. This is not the same as clustering,<br />

which is described in “<strong>My</strong> <strong>webMethods</strong> <strong>Server</strong> Clustering” on page 125. The following<br />

guidelines apply to running two or more server instances on the same machine:<br />

� Each <strong>My</strong> <strong>webMethods</strong> <strong>Server</strong> instance must have its own database; for a given<br />

database server, the following configuration entries must be unique among all <strong>My</strong><br />

<strong>webMethods</strong> <strong>Server</strong> instances that use the same database server:<br />

� Database user name<br />

� Database name or tablespace name<br />

� For <strong>My</strong> <strong>webMethods</strong> <strong>Server</strong> instances running concurrently on the same machine, the<br />

following host/port number combinations, if used, must be unique among all servers:<br />

� HTTP port<br />

� HTTPS port (if used)<br />

� AJP13 port and IIS or Apache Web server host and port (if used)<br />
