January was a very busy month; on the 14th our Branch Standard and two delegates<br />
attended the County Conference at Walls Social Club in Barnwood. Our 90th year was<br />
discussed and it has turn out to be the Royal British Legion’s best year ever.<br />
The schools in Gloucester played a vital part in raising £75,000 of the County’s £900,000 for<br />
the Poppy Appeal, and we still have 6 months to go!! Our Branch also won a trophy for the<br />
most efficient Branch with a Club; this is the second time we have won this Cup in 3 years.<br />
On Friday 27th January we held our third Burn’s<br />
Night, 69 people sat down to a two course dinner<br />
and all the usual poetry and readings that go with<br />
the event. This year we had two pipers, a father<br />
and son who stood in at very short notice so we<br />
were very grateful to them. An excellent evening<br />
was had by all and it was great to see young and<br />
old enjoying themselves. We are looking forward<br />
to our Quiz Night on 25th February at the time of<br />
writing but our forthcoming event this month is<br />
our Branch Bash Disco and BBQ on the 3rd<br />
<strong>March</strong> for only £5. Tickets are available from the<br />
Branch.<br />
