INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY<br />
CROSS-CLUSTER SKILL AREAS<br />
In addition to focusing on a Pathway, students gain transferable skills across Career Clusters. These cross-cluster<br />
skills broaden a student’s understanding <strong>of</strong> how different <strong>career</strong>s connect and intersect.<br />
• Business and Administrative Services: Core business and administrative services found in all businesses,<br />
including finance and accounting services, human resource services, and administrative support services.<br />
• Customer Sales/Service and Relationship Management: All activities involved in identifying customers, building<br />
and completing customer sales, responding to customer requests, and maintaining customer relationships.<br />
• User Services: All major applications support services provided to end users in major customer markets.<br />
• User Applications Services: All activities related to providing technical support regarding user applications.<br />
• User Applications Documentation – Technical Writing: Developing information on the use, operation, and<br />
capabilities <strong>of</strong> specific user applications.<br />

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY<br />
Through a partnership with the National Academy Foundation (NAF), <strong>Maryland</strong>’s Academy <strong>of</strong><br />
Information Technology features two specialized courses each semester and a college-level course in the<br />
senior year. The program <strong>of</strong>fers courses such as Introduction to IT, Information Systems, Logic for<br />
Programming, Digital Networks, System Support and Maintenance, Advanced Web Tools, Digital Media,<br />
Programming, and Databases. This program introduces students to the broad <strong>career</strong> opportunities in<br />
today’s digital workforce and, in the process, equips them with the personal, analytical, technical, and<br />
communications skills they need to succeed.
