Wrexham Year of Culture 2011 JULY BANDSTAND BONANZA July - September (various dates and times) The Bandstand, Llwyn Isaf, Wrexham COME AND USE OUR BANDSTAND! We’re offering individual performers, groups or bands an opportunity to showcase their talents in our town centre bandstand. There’s no electricity supply, but if you sing, dance, act, do magic, comedy etc and would like to give it a try, do get in touch. The bandstand can be booked, free of charge, for performances on any day of the week throughout July, August and September. Bandstand Bonanza performances will be listed on our website www.yearofculture.co.uk BANDSTAND BONANZA GREEN LIGHT FESTIVAL 1 July, 10am - 3pm Queens Square, Wrexham The final event of Green Light, a British Councilfunded twinning project which links Wrexham with Raciborz in Poland, in order to share good practice in environmental education. Environmentally themed performances of dance, drama, music and song from schools and youth groups across Wrexham, brought together in a marketplace, where local artists, groups and organisations can showcase what they do to promote environmental education. THE ST GILES’ SESSIONS PRESENTS - ANDY HICKIE AND THE MERRY MAIDENS 2 July, 7.30pm St Giles’ Church, Wrexham This is the second of the St Giles’ sessions, which link Wrexham’s parish church with the region’s finest contemporary musicians. It features Andy Hickie who, with his guitar and harmonica, traditional folk ballads, tales of freedom, love, and life on the road, has been described as ‘The Welsh Bob Dylan’. Andy joins The Merry Maidens to make a seven-piece ‘super group’ whose influences of folk-rock, roots, and alternative sounds fuse to create a gathering of folk like no other. £7.50 / £5 (concessions).
