Veterinary Clinical Investigations Center
Pfizer has lent support to the Department of Clinical
Studies at the Ryan Veterinary Hospital to help start the
Veterinary Clinical Investigations Center (VCIC), where
clinical trials are conducted to investigate new methods of
prevention, diagnosis and/or treatment of disease.
Many naturally occurring diseases in pet animals closely
resemble human diseases and provide meaningful results
that may benefit both people and animals. Clinical trials
are extremely important in improving treatment options
available. Many effective treatments are available today
because of both laboratory research and patient participation
in clinical trials. Clinical trials are very rewarding
for the pet, its family, the veterinary investigator and—
perhaps most importantly—future patients with the same
condition.
Recent clinical trials at the VCIC have included studies in
oncology, pain management and benign prostatic
hyperplasia. For more information, call (215) 573-0302.
