6 Opportunity Scholarship Program Established in 1998, the Opportunity Scholarship Program fosters scholarship support and mentoring opportunities for students. Since the program’s inception, 95 Opportunity Scholarships have been awarded.The first-year students who receive these four-year scholarships of $2,500 per annum, for a total of $10,000, are matched up for their mentoring experience with their donor(s) or a faculty member. Recipients are selected based on their strong academic qualifications and financial need. Opportunity Scholarships provide the donor the satisfaction of honoring a friend, relative or a family name, while at the same time investing in the future of the veterinary medicine profession by supporting the training of a future veterinarian.
