course at the Hong Kong <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Science and Technology<br />

as a visiting scholar.<br />

Several high-pr<strong>of</strong>ile publications, including <strong>The</strong> Nation and<br />

<strong>The</strong> Chronicle <strong>of</strong> Higher Education featured in-depth articles<br />

discussing Philip H. Knight Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Business</strong> dennis<br />

howard’s research with Jeffrey L. Stinson. <strong>The</strong>ir study,<br />

published in the Journal <strong>of</strong> Sport Management, analyzed<br />

whether donations to the country’s 119 largest athletics<br />

departments correlated with higher overall giving to those<br />

universities and colleges.<br />

Through the efforts <strong>of</strong> his students on the team, <strong>University</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> Oregon football players honored Instructor <strong>of</strong> Accounting<br />

michael tomcal as a faculty “Coach <strong>of</strong> the Day” for the USC<br />

game on Saturday, October 27, 2007.<br />
