Head for the smaller boutiques, who will stock unusual
brands in small quantities. My favourites are
Blush in Haslemere, Catwalk in Godalming, One Forty
in Cranleigh and Ordri’s Boutique in Farnham. You
may pay a bit more for something unique but it will
be worth it.
Beauty
Central heating and harsh weather conditions play
havoc with our skin, and faces and hands take a real
battering.
Smooth hands
Untouched by harsh chemicals and free of additives,
‘Rose’ hand cream by Cath Kidson, (£8) and a
favourite of Hanna’s, ‘Shea Butter’ by L’Occitane
(£18.50), will boost your hand circulation.
Nail it
Nails are an easy way to be on trend by wearing the
new colours to zap up your outfit. Try a metallic gold
shade ‘Lanesborough Place’ (£11, Nails inc).
Complexion lift
For a tried and tested skin lift, use Liz Earle’s Cleanse
and Polish Hot cloth cleanser (£14.25). The two phase
cleanser not only removes make-up but as you wipe
away, the muslin cloth dislodges dead skin cells, to
give your skin a really fresh look and feel. Visit the
store at 72-74 High Street, Guildford. We love this.
Instant facelift
For an instant up lift, choose an eyebrow reshape and
kirstie on fashion
threading session which will open up your eyes. Available
in department stores and even at Superdrug (£7),
a great way to remove all the little hairs that are hard
to see yourself.
Keep colours up dated
Trend spotting for spring/summer 2013 shows a lot of
designers sticking to a neutral palette for make-up with
some exciting ‘pops’ of colour in orange, reds and pinks.
Bobbi Brown has captured this perfectly with her new
nudes and neons range. Try her lip colour in ‘Atomic
Orange’ worn with ‘Ultra Nude Eye Palette’. As Bobbi
states, “it's about highlighting one feature at a time.”
Face up to it
BB creams were the talking point last year and continue
to be this year. For those who haven’t tried them
yet, they’re like a tinted moisturizer but with added
ingredients such as antioxidants. A high street brand
that rivals the high end is by Garnier, Miracle skin Perfector,
SPF 15 (£9.99).
