Godalming Baptist Church would like to welcome you to The Coffee Stop on the third Saturday each month (apart from May which is on the 25th May) at Godalming Baptist Church, Queen Street. They are open from 10.30am until 2.30pm offering a comfortable place to stop on a busy Saturday, along with a cup of coffee or tea and a home made cake or biscuit. Do pop in and visit them if you are in town, there is no charge but every month they will make a donation to a different charity. They look forward to meeting you soon. Wonersh and District Garden Club would like to remind Members that in future no meeting will be held in the month of January. Due to the inclement weather in the last two years it was decided to discontinue the January meeting but to hold a meeting in August, which previously had not been the case. The committee would also like to thank all members for making 2012 a successful year for the club. An interesting and varied programme was arranged with speakers, demonstrations, as well as the usual Spring, Summer and Autumn Shows and the annual outing (to Greys Court near Henley-on-Thames) was well attended. After the concerns of the previous year, when it was unclear whether or not the club would be able to continue, the club is delighted to be able to report that the membership has now reached 40. However, there is a need to expand the membership still further and with this in mind an even more ambitious programme for 2013 is being arranged. If you are interested in joining the club do give Graham Payne a ring on 01483 893627; note that membership is not restricted to those living in Wonersh. Looking ahead, the next meeting will be held in the Memorial Hall at the new time of 7.30pm on Tuesday 5th February, when the annual ‘Snowdrop Competition’ (a vase of 5 snowdrops) will be held, together with a talk by Mr Norman Choat entitled ‘Wild Surrey – Landscapes and wildlife’. Farncombe Music Club is starting 2013 with two absolutely cracking shows. On Friday 11th January, Aziz plus special guest Ady Johnson play at St. John's Church, Farncombe. Virtuoso guitarist and songwriter Aziz has played guitar for the Stone Roses (post John Squire), continues to write for Paul Weller and Ian Brown (contributing three tracks to Weller's latest album, 'Sonik Kicks'), has recently toured in Europe with Steven Wilson for 'Grace for Drowning' (appearing on the live album) and, in April 2012, released his own long-awaited second album, 'Rusholme Rock'. Ady Johnson whose debut album "Tell The Worry Dolls" has met with critical acclaim has shown with his live performances that he is not only talented but also has that vital extra - charisma. 38 January 2013
