Mechanical design 

OPERATING LIGHTS: marLED® V-series 

marLED ® V-series 

Outstanding LED light of the 2nd generation 

Extensive adjustability in height. The use of light 

materials such as aluminum minimizes weights and 

torques and increases operating convenience as a 

result. The light head comes with several handles 

for easy and safe positioning, plus a sensoTouch 

control panel for non-sterile control of all light 

functions. The hygiene requirements for fast and 

reliable disinfection of the light head are satisfied 

by a closed housing with smooth surfaces and 

soft transitions in form. Thanks to its laminar flowoptimized 

design and structure, the light is excellently 

suited for use under laminar-flow ceiling 

panels. 

Lighting system 

High-performance LEDs of different chromaticities 

are used as a basis for illumination of the surgical 

site. The special arrangement of the “light engines” 

inside the light head ensures shadow-free illumination 

while providing deep-cavity light at the same 

time. Computer-calculated lens systems prevent 

the formation of color shadows and enable users to 

adjust the lighting to small or large surgical sites as 

required. The LED light generated consists of visible 

light only, without any infrared content. The unique 

VariLUX function allows variation of the field geometry 

as circular or oval light fields can be created 

to match the form of the surgical site. The color 

temperature can be preset according to the surgeon’s 

preferences. The large number of single LEDs 

ensures almost 100 percent failure safety, with the 

additional benefit of an extremely long life of the 

light sources.

Operation 

All operating functions can be controlled via an 

intuitive, easy-to-use touch panel provided on the 

cardan joint of the light. Besides, the sensoGrip 

multifunctional central handle gives surgeons 

control of all parameters with surgical relevance. 

Brightness control and light field adjustment are 

fully electronic, no mechanical components involved. 

The currently used settings are displayed on 

the novel, dynamic ErgoScreen graphical display 

of the touch panel. High-precision positioning of 

the light head is ensured in any surgical situation, 

thanks to integrated handle elements providing 

access from all sides. Light field adjustment is 

possible in two ways: non-sterile via the control 

panel, and sterile via the sensoGrip multifunctional 

central handle 

Optional equipment 

Touch-sensitive KLS Martin pilot laser system for 

precise positioning of the center of the light field. 

KLS Martin camera system surgiCam ® – for the 

highest demands on image quality and resolution, 

with optional network compatibility for digital 

transmission of video, audio and control signals. 

The system can be optionally installed either 

directly in the center of the light or on a separate 

video support arm.

Operating light redefined 

The suspension arm system offers unrestricted 

movability with a wide radius of motion and extensive 

adjustability in height. The use of light materials 

such as aluminum minimizes weights and torques 

and increases operating convenience as a result. 

The light head comes with several handles for easy 

and safe positioning, plus a flush-integrated membrane 

keypad for non-sterile control of all light functions. 

The hygiene requirements for fast and reliable 

disinfection of the light head are satisfied by a 

closed housing with patented joining technology, 

smooth surfaces and soft transitions in form. Thanks 

to its laminar flow-optimized design and structure, 

the light is excellently suited for use under laminarflow 

ceiling panels.

moving parts at all, the system is entirely maintenance-free.

The large number of single LEDs ensures failure 

safety, with the additional benefit of an extremely 

long life of the light sources.

Operation 

All operating functions can be controlled via an 

ergonomic, seamlessly integrated membrane keypad. 

Brightness control and light field adjustment 

are fully electronic, no mechanical components 

involved. The currently used settings are shown on 

an LED segment display that is part of the control 

panel. High-precision positioning of the light head 

is ensured in any surgical situation, thanks to 

integrated handle elements providing access from 

all sides. 

Optional equipment 

KLS Martin camera system surgiCam ® – for the 

highest demands on image quality and resolution. 

The system can be optionally installed either directly 

in the center of the light or on a separate video 

support arm. Operation takes place via the ON/OFF 

function and the sterilizable handle for sterile 

control of the size of the light field.

OPERATING LIGHTS MARLED ® : Accessories 

Camera integrated into light head 

Camera system for medical requirements, intended 

for (live) transmission of surgical procedures. 

The camera is installed in the center of the light 

head within the sterilizable handle. This ensures 

the simultaneous positioning of the light and the 

camera. In this version, the image rotation and 

zoom functions can be controlled directly on the 

light head equipped with the camera. A separate 

control unit allowing external control of all camera 

functions is optionally available for the camera. 

In this version, the signal is transmitted via sliprings, 

no stops involved. This allows rotation 

exceeding 360°.

Camera installed on separate arm system: 

Camera system for medical requirements, intended 

for (live) transmission of surgical procedures. In this 

version, the camera is attached to a separate, 

height-adjustable tracking arm system. This system 

enables users to position the light and the camera 

independently of each other. This camera version 

always includes a separate control unit for external 

control of all camera functions. 

In the case of the HD camera version, signal transmission 

takes place via cables running through 

the arm system. To prevent cable damage, the 

mounting position on the central bearing shaft 

includes stops that limit the range of rotation 

to 310°. 

In the case of the SD camera version, the signals 

are transmitted stop-free via slip-rings. This allows 

rotations exceeding 360°.
