Can a capitalist music producer and a communist doctor and artist
work together? In Cuba they can! Michel Miglis – a Swedish music
producer, known for his provocative ideas and El Medico – a doctor
and a singer, born and raised in the midst of the Cuban Revolution
and who’s values are in total contrast to the cynical Western music
industry.
It all started from a mix tape, where Michael suddenly heard a
fantastic voice. After long-lasting search Michael found the owner of
the voice high up in the Sierra Madre Mountains. Michael was met
with great suspicion – „another tourist who wants to steal a slice of
Cuban culture”.
But after a while El Medico started to trust Michel and the song
“Chupa Chupa” was recorded.
The song became a worldwide hit! Then the trouble began!
The film is based on paradoxes of Cuba. It’s a prison for its nation
but also an oasis of very emphatic people. It’s a country of poverty
but where you look after your own. It’s an island where state owns
its subjects from cradle to grave but where people still manage to live
the day and enjoy the moment.
Cuban Reggaeton is an underground musical movement in this
archaic society; a commercial music as a subversive force in a cultural
reactionary but social revolutionary society.
We are fascinated by this contradiction. We believe we have
something to show to the world: To have nothing but still enjoy life.

“Iberian Union” is the love story between the couple José
Saramago (Portuguese Literature Nobel Prize) and Pilar del Rio
(famous Spanish journalist).
Based on intimate interviews and on the shooting of their daily life
in Lanzarote - their home, and on their endless journeys
throughout the world; the main idea of this documentary is to
achieve an intimate/personal record, aiming to create on the
viewers the sense of personally knowing the couple.
