Welcome to the <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> <strong>Club</strong> <strong>Directory</strong> <strong>2011</strong>/12.<br />
The profile of sport and the importance of creating a sporting legacy has never been<br />
more prominent than in the year before the Olympic and Paralympic Games come to<br />
England for the London 2012 Games. One of the main themes for these games is to<br />
create a lasting legacy for sports provision and participation throughout the UK.<br />
In our district of <strong>Bassetlaw</strong>, North Nottinghamshire, there are lots of organised sports<br />
clubs that sustain sports participation and have delivered their own sporting legacy for<br />
many years. They provide sporting pathways for those who like to participate in sport<br />
for enjoyment to those that have inspirational sporting abilities and want to compete at<br />
the highest standards.<br />
This booklet tries to incorporate their details to give you the opportunity to contact them<br />
and get involved. We have made every effort to include many different sports clubs so<br />
that the residents of <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> have lots of opportunity to take part in sport.<br />
It is important to emphasise that although the clubs included in this directory are not<br />
recommended or endorsed by ourselves, through information received, we can identify<br />
the clubs who have gained club accreditation awards from their National Governing<br />
Bodies of Sport & <strong>Club</strong> Mark.<br />
We would like to thank all clubs for their efforts in providing their contact information<br />
for this publication. Inclusion within the sports club directory is free and any clubs<br />
wishing to be part of it in the future are more than welcome to apply for an application<br />
form.<br />

Scheme<br />
The <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> Forum’s Coach Scholarship Scheme enables<br />
people who coach at a club, in the district of <strong>Bassetlaw</strong>, to achieve<br />
and improve their coaching qualifications and experience.<br />
The scheme has been set up to financially assist coaches who<br />
wish to enrol on Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 sport specific coaching courses.<br />
The <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> Forum’s Coach<br />
Scholarship scheme aims to provide coaches<br />
with a financial incentive to develop their<br />
coaching by offering up to 50% of the course<br />
cost up to the maximum value of £150.00<br />

Accreditation Schemes<br />
<strong>Club</strong>mark is the only national cross sports quality<br />
accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections. It is built<br />
around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs<br />
operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.<br />
Sport England recognises and values the commitment made by sports clubs to develop<br />
high quality, welcoming environments for young participants. The development of clubs<br />
that encourage young people to take up sport, improve their talents and give them the<br />
option to initiate and maintain life-long participation in sport is an essential part of our<br />
work to support the sporting infrastructure in England.<br />
<strong>Club</strong>mark is endorsed by all the main sporting, youth and education agencies involved<br />
in delivery of sporting opportunity for young people as the accreditation scheme for<br />
clubs with quality assured junior sections.<br />
A club is accredited via either its licensed National Governing Body (NGB) or County<br />
<strong>Sports</strong> Partnership (CSP). It must, therefore, be affiliated to the relevant Sport England<br />
recognised NGB in order to be accredited.<br />
More than 10,000 clubs across around 35 sports are currently <strong>Club</strong>mark accredited or<br />
‘working towards' the award. These cover a diverse array of sports from ball games<br />
such as tennis, cricket and rugby to water sports like swimming, canoeing and rowing.<br />
