Wollombi Valley Pony Club
It was a wild & windy couple of days for our School Holidays Camp
but we all coped well with the first day only being held up for a
short time. The Endurance Ride in small groups on Day 2 proved to
be very popular & we will be developing this in the future. All riders
successfully completed the Derby & were awarded a Medallion for
their efforts with Bronte, Bailey & Clio winning the team event &
Bronte, Emma, Louisa, Summer & Molly receiving an additional prize
for placing in each individual event.
During the last month some of our riders attended the Zone 25
Camp for 6 days at Gloucester. Bronte Annis-Brown, Chloe Green,
Renee Butterworth, Summer Bolton, Molly Callaghan & Scarlett
Bolton were on their horses at 8.30am every morning & didn’t
dismount for the evening until 5.00pm every night. They did a range
of activities from Camp Drafting, Team Penning, Sporting, Jumping to
Dressage & Flat Work. A load of feisty cattle were trucked in for
the Camp Drafting & Team Penning & definitely gave the riders a
run for their money & a fun experience.
The Wollombi Support Team with our fearless leader Simone with
the help of Kerri, Di Butterworth, Di Hardin & Tanya helped saved
the day when on arrival it was acknowledged that the organisation
of instructors for Camp was less than desirable, in fact nonexistent.
In the end the riders were none the wiser & everyone
involved had a fantastic time. Of course it will take months for the
Support Team to recover (probably just in time for next year).
Molly Callaghan & Summer
Bolton competed in the
Mount Sugarloaf Show
Jumping Competition during
the month with both riders
succeeding in placing in a
number of events. A special
congratulations to Molly for
doing so well in her first D
Grade competition.
Lastly, Molly Callaghan & Bronte
Annis-Brown attended the
Central Coast Grammar
Interschool Dressage Day competing against some very high-class
combinations. As usual both girls did our Club proud, placing well &
both receiving very respectable ribbons.
Congratulations to all of the riders that went out to compete on
behalf of our Club this year. Whether you came home with an
armful of ribbons or just the experience we are proud of you.
