A Look Back at the
Balmoral Show
There really was something for everyone at this yearÕs Balmoral Show,
in parthnership with the Ulster Bank, and with return of Caterpillar in
the form of Finning and other heavy plant and agri dealers and suppliers
there was plenty to do and see amid the sunshine and the showers.

In the trade stand awards,
Finning deservedly picked
up the prize for the ‘Best
agricultural, plant & machinery,
horticultural or food stand;’ it
was presented to Gary Megarrell,
General Manager and Chris
Stevenson, Operations Manager.
The winner of the ‘Best trade
stand displaying agricultural
and horticultural machinery,
equipment and vehicles’
sponsored by NI Agricultural
Machinery Dealers Association
(AMDA), was awarded to
Redrock Machinery. This
award was presented by
John Armstrong, Chairman
of AMDA to Frank Flynn,
Managing Director and Mark
Linden, Sales Manager.
Weston Wire Works took the
award for ‘Best trade stand in
the King’s Hall and Nugent Hall’.
The award was presented by
Robin Morrow, RUAS President
and Ian Duff, Chairman of RUAS
trade exhibits committee to
James Ross, while Hydro NI
was awarded the ‘Best trade
stand with focus on renewable
energy’. Robin Morrow and
David Tite presented this
award to Gerard Murphy and
Trevor McBurney, Hydro NI.
Meanwhile, Moore Concrete
Ltd. were highly commended
in this category also for its
precast concrete display. The
award, presented by trade
stand judge David Tite and
Ronnie Porter, Tennants Bitumen, Beverley Wilton,
Tennants Bitumen and John Spiers, HSENI
Robin Morrow was accepted
by Wilbert Moore, Managing
Director of Moore Concrete.
P McCann & Sons were awarded
the ‘Best NI food stand at
the Show’. It was presented
by sponsor Lindsay Lyttle, NI
Good Food, judge David Tite
and RUAS President Robin
Morrow to Kevin McCann.
Commented the 2011 judge
of the trade stand awards,
David Tite, Chief Executive
of the Driffield Show: “It was
always going to be difficult to
choose a winner in each of
these categories, however even
though it made my decision
more difficult it was great to
see that despite the current
economic climate businesses
are continuing to come to large
events such as the Balmoral
Show and using them as a
platform to showcase their
products and services. It is an
excellent opportunity to bring
companies face to face with the
current and potential customers.”
There are suggestions this may
have been the last Balmoral
Show at the King’s Hall, with
plans afoot to move the annual
event to the site of the former
Maze Prison, but a final decision
is still some way off so don’t
be surprised if we’re back at
the King’s Hall next May.
