Geographical area: National fruit collection<br />

Goals: Brogdale is the largest collection in the world of fruits, conservation and<br />

education, research<br />

Field of responsibility: Conservation, evaluation and education, 4'000 accessions, over 2'000<br />

apple varieties, some 500 varieties of pear, 350 of plum, 220 of cherry as well<br />

as currants, gooseberries, nuts, medlars and quinces, strawberry and vinecollections<br />

are being established and there is a citrus-collection under glass.<br />

Memberships: RHS; HDRA; Wye-Imperial College and many other relevant organisations<br />

specialises in vegetables<br />

Memberships: Joint with several botanic gardens, regional and pational organisations;<br />

link up with John Innes Institute (plant breeding institute)<br />
