Geographical area: National
Goals: Conservation of the genetical and cultural heritage of agricultural animals
and plants; Planting and caring of some 130 (2001) contract collections
with private persons and public institutions (1100 fruit varieties saved on
3300 trees). Collections consist of usually 25 to 800+ trees of old and rare
varieties. Research and prospection work. Monitoring and inventory,
operation of a public fruit database. Information transfer and advisory.
Field of responsibility: Old and rare varieties of agricultural plants and animals,
monitoring
Ways and means of safeguarding: on-farm projects, networking with NGOs and Gos,
political lobbying, public relations, collection and transfer of information.
Memberships: Joint with several regional, national and international organisations e.g.
SAVE Foundation, SKEK, Fructus, Rétropomme
