Italy Situation in the country There are many individual activities that are often carried out by volunteers with no or scarce grants. Many varieties will disappear in a few years and they will not be replaced by new ones. The knowledge about these old varieties is disappeared, and the country people who cultivated them, have gone. There is a discreet attention to this problem and many are talking about this but there is definitely too little done on the institutional level.
