ch - - On behalf of students, faculty, staff and families of Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, we would like to sincerely thank everyone in
Springfield and Central Illinois who helped make our 50th Annual Mostaccioli Dinner an unprecedented success. This year we served 9,614
dinners and raised over $92,000 for operating costs at SHG.
On March 13, 2009, the Booster Club in combination with the Advancement Office hosted the first ever “Black & Gold with a Touch O’ Green”
St. Patrick’s Day fundraising event. The event was held in order to raise money for all SHG athletic teams, which in turn, helps the SHG operating
budget. This year’s event raised over $50,000! Although this was the first year for the St. Patrick’s Day event, the Booster Club has hosted the
Black & Gold Auction the past two Decembers.
April April – – – The Advancement office implemented a Facebook page on the Internet to keep alumni and friends updated on what is going on at
SHG. To date, our page has over 400 “fans”.
- Thanks to the charitable gifts from generous individuals and businesses, the Advancement Office was pleased to award $15,000
through the Teacher’s Grant Fund. We are so fortunate to be able to offer this program to our SHG faculty and staff, which supports initiatives
over and above the departmental budgets. For more information about the Teachers’ Grant Fund, please contact us at 217-787-9732.
Summertime is full of classes coming together for class reunions. We hosted over 100 guests at Nifty Fifty and 50 young graduates (collegeaged)
during the Young Alum Reunion. Both groups were glad to be back on campus!
Our new freshmen parents were again welcomed to campus so that we could all get acquainted with one another. The indoor picnic was
hosted in the cafeteria and gave everyone an opportunity to ask questions and get more comfortable with their first year at SHG.
The 2008-2009 Annual Fund is a year-long initiative that ran from July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009. SHG is blessed to have such strong support
from alumni, parents and friends. This year despite the economic uncertainty, and the fact that most Annual Funds around the country were
down 2%, SHG’s Annual Fund increased! Our total reached over $240,000, which is up from $210,000 last year. Please
see page 9 for the 2008-2009 Annual Fund listings.
Thank you for your continued support, which makes Catholic secondary education possible for today’s youth.
Sincerely,
Beverly Neisler, CFRE
Vice President for Advancement 5
