ERRORS AND VARIETIES: 1902-1958.
ERRORES Y VARIEDADES: 1902-1958.
Silvia Garcia-Frutos.
These types of stamps are widely known by
collectors although not all catalogs recognize them. In this
brief article we will present and describe in chronological
sequence each stamp’s variety or error.
We should say that overprinted or surcharged
stamps have a higher incidence of varieties and errors due to
the number of factors that take place in their production.
We refer to the Scott catalog only as a guide to
facilitate the stamps’ identification. We use the abbreviation
UNL. to indicate that the Scott catalog does not list the error
or variety although in some rare cases their existence is
mentioned. It would be nice if in the not so distant future this
well known publication would correct this “error.” The
EDIFIL catalog includes almost all the errors and varieties
that have been described in the stamps of the Republic.
