ANNOUNCEMENT OF SCIENTIFIC EVENTIV TALLER DE BIODIVERSIDAD DEL AÑO 2001CENTRO ORIENTAL DE ECOSISTEMAS Y BIODIVERSIDAD (BIOECO)MINISTERIO DE CIENCIA, TECNOLOGÍA Y MEDIO AMBIENTESANTIAGO DE CUBASe comunica a todos los técnicos, investigadores y docentes relacionados con los estudios de Biodiversidadque el Centro Oriental de Ecosistemas y Biodiversidad con cede en el Museo de Historia Natural “Tomás Romay,”la Sociedad ProNaturaleza e HIVOS próximamente emitirán la primera circular relacionada con la celebraciónde un Taller de Gestión y Manejo asociado al correspondiente IV Taller de Biodiversidad del año 2001.El objetivo general está dirigido a la divulgación, organización y desarrollo de un taller caracterizado comoevento científico, en el cual se desarrollen diferentes actividades encaminadas a la divulgación del estado de losestudios de la biodiversidad cubana y de otras áreas a través de las siguientes comisiones de trabajo: Biodiversidadfaunística; Biodiversidad florística; Ecología; Ordenamiento y Biogeografía; Educación ambiental y Trabajocomunitario; Áreas protegidas, Conservación y manejo; Bases de datos y SIG.Las actividades se desarrollaran los días 13, 14 y 15 de noviembre del 2001 y podrán participar investigadoresde instituciones no cubanas (aclarando que el evento no tiene carácter internacional) con el pago de unacuota de inscripción de 80.00 USD para ponentes y 50.00 USD para participantes o acompañantes cuyo pago seefectuará a la llegada una vez realizada la inscripción para la correspondiente acreditación. The general objective is the organization and development of a workshop characterized as scientificevent, centered about Cuban biodiversity to include the following topics: faunistic biodiversity, floristicbiodiversity, ecology, land planning and biogeography, environmental education and community work, protectedareas, conservation and management, databases and GIS.The event’s activities will be on the 13, 14, and 15 of November 2001. Although not characterized as aninternational event, researchers from non-Cuban institutions will be able to participate. Registration costs areUS$80.00 for presenters and US$50.00 for other participants and their companions. Payment will be madeupon arrival and registration.
