Descaling the Steam BoilerAs limes cale builds up on the boiler walls,we recommend to de scale the boiler in thefollowing intervals (RF = reservoir fillings):Degree of hardness° dH mmol/l RFI soft 0- 7 0-1,3 100II medium 7-14 1,3-2,5 90III hard 14-21 2,5-3,8 75IV very hard >21 >3,8 50Note: Please contact your ConservancyBoard or the local water supply company toinquire about the hardness of your water. Disconnect the mains plug from thesocket. Allow the steam cleaner to cool down. Empty the water reservoir or remove itfrom the appliance. Remove the accessories from the accessorycompartments.Illustration Open the locking door of the accessorycompartment. Remove the accessories from the accessorycompartment. Open the maintenance lock. For this,place the open end of an extension pipeonto the maintenance lock, lock it intothe guide and unscrew it. Completely empty the steam boiler toremove existing water (see fig. ). WarningOnly use products approved by KÄRCHERto exclude any damages of the appliance. User the KÄRCHER decalcifier sticks(order no. 6.295-206) to decalcify thewater. Please follow the dosing instructionson the packaging while using thedecalcifying solution. CautionUse caution when filling and emptying thesteam cleaner. The descaling solution canhave an aggressive effect on delicate surfaces. Pour the descaling solution into the boilerand allow it to react for approximately8 hours. WarningDo not screw the maintenance lock ontothe appliance during the decalcifying.Do not use the steam cleaner as long asthere is decalcifying agent in the boiler. Completely empty the descaling solutionafter 8 hours. A small amount of thesolution will remain in the boiler. Therefore,you should rinse the boiler two tothree times with cold water to removeany residues of the descaler. Completely empty the steam boiler toremove existing water (see fig. ). Screw the maintenance lock in usingthe extension pipe. Fill water reservoir (see page 8). The steam cleaner is ready to use.Care of the AccessoriesNote: The floorcloth and the terry cloth coverhave been pre-washed and can be usedimmediately for working with the steamcleaner. You can wash dirty floorcloths and terrycloth covers in the washing machine at60°C. Do not use a liquid softener asthis would affect the ability of the clothsto pick up dirt. You may tumble dry thecloths.TroubleshootingOften, failures have simple causes and youcan do the troubleshooting yourself usingthe following overview.
