- 113-47,024.97 has. de tierras sin uso, en ambos vallcs (Ver Cuadro No. V-5)Las areas agricolas comprenden las tierras cultivadas, en descanso y de pastos naturales yrepresentan el 66.720/o del area total, de los cualcs 20,847.58 has. cstan condiicidos bajoriego y 73,388.43 has. en secano.Las areas sin uso actual, corresponden a las zonas eria/.as con o sin vegetacion, zonaspantanosas y zonas ocupadas por las poblaciones y tauces de rios, quebradas y lagunas, lascuales representan el 33.28o/o del area total del anibito de cstudioEn ambos valles la agricultura se desarrolla con aplicacion tecnologica incipientepresentando las siguicntes caracteristicas principales:— Uso de maquinaria y equipo agri'cola: Restringida— Uso de herramientas adecuadas: Escasa— Uso de traccion animal y/o a mano: Usualmente— Labores de deshierbo a mano: Usualmente— Uso de hierbicidas: Fscaso— Uso de fertilizantes: Escaso— Practicas de conservacion de suelos: Escaso— Uso de semilla seleccionada: Escaso5.2 ESTRUCTURA ECONOMIC A AGRARIA5.2.1 EXPLOTACiON OE LA TIERRAEn relacion con la produccion, los Valles de Cajamarca y Condebamba se diferencian por laorientacion prioritaria a la ganaderia del primero, mientras que el segundo esta dedicadopreferentemente a la agricultura. Tanto en terminos de valor bruto de la produccion comode la poblacion ociipada, el sector agrario ocupa un lugar preponderante; sin embargo, laensnomia agraria se caracteriza por su atrazo, base primaria y desarticulacion en relacioncon los demas sectores productivos.La distribucion de las actividades agropecuarias dentro de la zona en cstudio, es la siguiente:— En el Valle de Cajamarca predomina la actividad pecuaria con elevados ingresos; demenor importancia son las actividades agricolas, cuyos principales cultivos son lapapa, maiz y cebada.— En el Valle de Condebamba predominan las actividades agr/colas, en donde la papa,el maiz y el trigo son los cultivos principales. La actividad pecuaria es practicada enmenor escala y en condiciones menos ventajosas, tanto productivas como decomercializacion, que en el valle de Cajamarca.La explotacion de la tierra presenta variaciones marcadas, las mismas que estandeterminadas por la cantidad y calidad de los terrcnos sembrados; siendo una normageneral que los poseedores de mayores extensiones obtienen elevados indices de
