PregradoUn componente central del trabajo del CDH estádirigido a la actividad docente de los/as alumnos/as de pregradode la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Chile. De estamanera, el CDH aprovecha la oportunidad de formar a nuevos/as académicos/as y activistas en derechos humanos tanto paraChile como para la región.1. Curso Optativo Derecho Internacional de los DerechosHumanosEl propósito del curso es familiarizar a los/asalumnos/as con el Derecho Internacional de los DerechosHumanos. Esto incluye comprender su gestación ydesarrollo; su relación con otros sistemas humanitarios; susprincipales componentes normativos; el sistema jurídicode protección; sus principales instituciones; los dilemasmorales, teóricos y prácticos que plantean estas áreas; y, lasposibilidades de actuar en estos campos como ciudadanosy como profesionales. El curso fue dictado por el ProfesorClaudio Nash en el primer semestre.2. Memorias de PregradoUno de los ejes centrales del Centro de DerechosHumanos es el fomento de la investigación. En eseentendido, se busca promover y colaborar en la ejecuciónde memorias y tesis sobre temas relevantes a las materiasde interés para el CDH. En 2011, el Profesor Claudio Nashinformó el trabajo final de tesis de tres alumnos/as de laFacultad de Derecho.3. Grupos de AyudantesOtro elemento clave en el trabajo del CDH a nivelde pregrado es la formación de nuevos/as académicos/as en el área de los derechos humanos. Por esta razón,cada Programa cuenta con estudiantes de pregrado quecolaboran en labores de investigación y gestión. En 2011,fueron ayudantes en el CDH: Lina Callejas, Pascual Cortés,Rayen Campusano, Francisco Jara y Aurora Muñoz. Losintegrantes del equipo editorial del Boletín de Jurisprudenciade la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, fueron:Natalia Espinoza, Andrés Nogueira y Constanza Nuñez.A. Undergraduate LevelUndergraduate level teaching at the School of Law ofthe Universidad de Chile is a crucial part of the work carried outby the CDH. This way, CDH has the opportunity to train newacademics and activists in human rights issues, both for Chileand for the region in general.1. Elective Course International Human Rights LawThe goal of the course is for students to understandthe gestation, nature and development of internationalhuman rights law and its connection to other humanitariansystems; to enable students to understand the mainregulatory components of the systems, the legal protectionmechanisms and their main institutions; and, to make themaware of the possibilities for action in such fields in theirroles as citizens and professionals. The course was taught byProfessor Claudio Nash in the first semester of 2011.2. Undergraduate ThesesPromoting research is one of CDH’s key elements.Consequently, CDH staff work to promote and assist thedevelopment of undergraduate theses in areas of interest tothe CDH. In 2011, Professor Claudio Nash acted as adviserto three students of the School of Law.3. Undergraduate AssistantsAnother key element in the work carried out by CDHat the undergraduate level, is the training of new academicsin the field of human rights. For this reason, each Programhas a number of undergraduate students who assist withresearch and administrative duties. In 2011, the followingstudents worked as undergraduate assistants at the CDH:Lina Callejas, Pascual Cortés, Rayen Campusano, FranciscoJara and Aurora Muñoz. Members of the editorial team ofthe Boletín de Jurisprudencia included: Natalia Espinoza,Andrés Nogueira y Constanza Nuñez.15
B. PostgradoOtro componente del trabajo del CDH es participaren programas de postgrado impartidos por la Universidad deChile.1. Curso de Magister Derechos fundamentales y procesopenal: una mirada desde el derecho internacionalEste curso tiene como objetivo principal estudiarel impacto del Derecho Internacional de los DerechosHumanos, en particular, del sistema interamericano, enel proceso penal a fin de que los estudiantes del Magísterpuedan desarrollar sus actividades con esta nuevaperspectiva.2. Seminario Magister La responsabilidad internacionaldel Estado y la obligación de reparar violaciones dederechos humanosEl Seminario tiene como objetivo discutir el impactodel derecho internacional de los derechos humanos sobre lateoría de la responsabilidad internacional del Estado y enparticular, sobre la obligación de reparación.3. Seminario Magister La Jurisprudencia de la CorteInteramericana de Derechos HumanosEl Seminario tiene por objetivo discutir lasbases fundamentales sobre las cuales se estructura lajurisprudencia de la Corte Interamericana de DerechosHumanos. En particular, se analizan algunos aspectosinstitucionales (orgánica y procedimientos aplicables) yparte de su jurisprudencia más relevante en sus 22 años defuncionamiento.4. Tesis de postgradoLa Profesora Cecilia Medina fue profesora guía detesis de doctorado de una alumna del Doctorado en Derechode la Universidad de Chile y otra de la Universidad deUtrecht. El Profesor Claudio Nash fue profesor guía de tesisde Magíster de dos alumnos/as del Programa de Magísterde la Facultad de Derecho.5. Participación dentro la Facultad de DerechoTanto Cecilia Medina como Claudio Nash, sonmiembros del Comité Académico del Doctorado en Derechoofrecido por la Universidad de Chile. Claudio Nash esmiembro del Consejo Académico de la Escuela de Postgradode la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Chile.B. Graduate StudiesCDH also participates in several postgraduate programsoffered by the Universidad de Chile.1. Master’s Degree Course Fundamental Rights andCriminal Procedure. A View from the Perspective ofInternational LawThe main purpose of this course is to study theimpact of international human rights law, specifically ofthe Inter-American system on criminal procedure, so thatMaster’s degree students can include this perspective intheir activities.2. Master’s Degree Seminar The internationalresponsibility of the State and its obligation to providereparations for human rights violationsThe purpose of the seminar is to discuss the impactof international human rights law on the theory of theinternational responsibility of the State, particularly on itsobligation to provide reparations.3. Master’s Degree Seminar Jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court of Human RightsThe purpose of the seminar is to discuss the basicfoundations of the jurisprudence of the Inter-AmericanCourt of Human Rights. Specifically, institutional aspects(organic and applicable procedural aspects) are analyzed, inaddition to its most significant jurisprudence in its 22 yearsof operation.4. Graduate DissertationsProfessor Cecilia Medina acted as adviser to twostudents in the preparation of their dissertations. The firstis a Universidad de Chile Ph.D. law student and the otheris from the University of Utrecht. Professor Claudio Nashwas the adviser to two students from the Master’s DegreeProgram of the School of Law.5. Participation in the Faculty of LawProfessors Cecilia Medina and Claudio Nash aremembers of the Academic Committee of the Ph.D. LawProgram offered by the Universidad de Chile. Claudio Nashis a member of the Academic Council of the Graduate School,School of Law, Universidad de Chile.16
